Located just off Highway 11, this hotel is close to downtown Huntsville and Algonquin and Arrowhead Provincial Parks, making it ideal for those looking for basic accommodations while they explore this area by car.
This 100% smoke-free hotel has 37 guest rooms with 2 double beds, 2 queen beds,1 king bed or 1 queen bed. Suites can accommodate up to 7 guests. Free breakfast and a complimentary newspaper are available each morning. Every guest room has an iron and ironing board, a desk, a TV with full cable, free Wi-Fi access, a coffeemaker, a microwave, and a small refrigerator. One suite also has a dishwasher and stove. Pets are allowed at a fee of $10 per night.
The hotel has a 24-hour front desk and offers free parking for guests with plug-ins available for trucks and RVs. A BBQ facility with picnic tables is available for guest use. There is no on-site restaurant, but guests receive a 10% discount at the Cottage Waterfront Grill, just a 3-minute drive from the hotel.
This hotel is located a 20-minute walk or a 2-minute drive from downtown Huntsville, which boasts many restaurants and shops. Also located downtown is the the Muskoka Heritage Place and Algonquin Theatre. Arrowhead Provincial Park is a 10- to 15-minute drive from the hotel, as are Hidden Valley Ski Resort and Deerhurst and Delta Grandview golf courses. The west entrance to Algonquin Park is a 50-minute drive from the hotel. The provincial parks offer extensive hiking and nature trails, camping, swimming or skiing options, depending on the season.

Some of the positive comments about this hotel referred to its close proximity to downtown Huntsville, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff (although not everyone was in agreement regarding the staff).
The hotel is located within a 2-minute drive of the city centre, and many guests thought it was a great location for their stay.
Some guests commented that the rooms were 'comfortable enough' for their stay, but they did not go 'over and above'.
A small amount of guests commented that the staff were very friendly. However, there was some contradiction on this point regarding the front desk clerk (see below).
The Bad
There were many negative comments in the reviews used for this analysis, and many had to do with the cleanliness and age of the hotel, the quality of the free breakfast, unfriendly staff, malfunctioning in-room heating and uncomfortable beds.
Many guests commented that while the hotel was tidy, it was not clean. One guest said "It could have used a pass with the vacuum” while another guest was displeased with the cleanliness of their bathroom and found used coffee grinds in the coffeemaker.
One frequent complaint was that the complimentary breakfast lacked variety. One guest said "The breakfast consisted of cereal, toast and coffee with milk... For the price I paid I would have expected more.”
The hotel was old, the sign was falling apart, and the entire hotel was in need of upgrades, said many guests.
Several complaints about the uncomfortable beds were noted. One guest said "the beds need to be upgraded — they were simply back-breaking."
The front desk clerk was said by many guests to be unfriendly and disinterested.
Many guests complained that the heating in their rooms did not work.
