"The front desk staff were very friendly upon check in. Your shuttle driver was exceptionally friendly and personally offered to pick me up at the long term parking lot - I fully realize that he did not have to do that. That extra effort earns big points with me. I will certainly be a repeat visitor."

"We were very impressed with the young gal on the counter the evening of the 16th. She was very helpful and very pleasant about helping us with a computer transaction.

Operator didn't ask re: smoking or non smoking."

"the sandwich served at the restaurant was cold (and supposed to be hot)
one hotel staff person said I needed to be at the airport 2-3 hours prior to my flight; another said something different. 2 hours was too long!
the mattrress needs replacing as the sit spot was very soft indeed. for me as a single I could move over, but if I'd been a couple, I'd suffered.
nice room though"

"Nice hotel, beds were really comfortable and clean, very quiet atmosphere, the bathroom was very spacious. Overall, my stay was enjoyable. My only complaints: our door cards didn't work one time (apparently a problem with the magnet???) and there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke, especially in the hallways."

Vince from Thunder Bay, ON US stayed on February 06, 2004
"Didn't appreciate the extra charges for the room safe that was not mentioned until I arrived (didn't even know that there was a room safe in the room)
Hotel had me booked for a different night and I was told that the hotel was full on the evening I arrived. When I produced my confirmation memo (booked room on-line) somehow they now had a room for me. - NoTE: they were not apologetic for their error - rather cold at front desk.
Ran out of parking validations at the front desk. I had to go back to my car to retrieve the entrance ticket so that they could validate - I didn't think I should have to be inconvenienced because the hotel ran out of parking validations.
I was astonished that a short long distance phone call from my room to home (to Thunder Bay) was invoiced at over $10. Last time I used my cell, it was only $6...and that's with roaming charges included.
Finally, I used o stay at rthis hotel when it was a Venture Inn. ASt that time I was very satisfied with the service. Room rates were reasonable, continental breakfast was included, and parking was free. Now that Travelodge has taken over, continental breakfast is extra (and a bit pricey, I might add), parking is extra and front desk staff doesn't seem as friendly.
This stay has certainly prompted me to look at other options on Dixon Road...and there's plenty to choose from.

"Beacause the rate was quite reasonable, I was satisfied as we only needed a room to sleep in until flight time at 0300 hrs. However, beacause we were there at a special rate they put us in a room where the wallpaper was peeling off the wall in a four foot section by the door."

"Room I was assigned at first wasn't cleaned - but the front desk clerk was very apologetic. It was just inconvenient for us to traipse all the way back to the desk for a new key. Also - hot water wasn't really hot !"

"I was told they had an airport shuttle on the phone that was on demand - 5 minutes only. Turns out its run by another company, runs about every 25 minutes, no schedule - the front desk clerk wouldn't tell me when it was leaving. However, on my second visit, i noticed that there is a time posted in the lobby. Customers should be informed that the hotel doesn't operate the shuttle itself (why not ??) and that it's a lot less hassle to take a cab - $12.00 flat rate (the shuttle in $6.00 per person and takes a long round about route)I might have chosen a different hotel if i knew the shuttle took so long. Just let us know up front, that's all i ask !"
