Updated Dec 17, 2012
This hotel is located within a 1-minute drive from Highway 17. Given that Dryden is the halfway point between major centres like Winnipeg and Thunder Bay and its proximity to the highway, this hotel is frequently used by roadside travellers stopping off for the night as part of a longer journey.

All of the 61 rooms at this hotel have free Wi-Fi, a coffeemaker, a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board. Rooms are furnished with either queen or double beds. Some have a sofabed and/or a mini-fridge. Pets are allowed for $9.95 per night (maximum 2 pets per room).

There is no restaurant on-site, but guests are offered a complimentary standard continental breakfast daily (baked goods, coffee and juice).

The Dryden Fairgrounds (home of the Dryden Fall Fair, which has been running for over 100 years) is a 10-minute walk away. The Dryden District Museum, which has exhibits on local history and culture, is just over a 15-minute walk away. The Dryden Golf and Curling Club is a 20-minute walk away. The Good
Many of the reviews used for this analysis were favourable and guests were impressed with this hotel's location and with the customer service.

Location was a big draw for several guests, who liked this hotel's proximity to Highway 17. They said it was easy to find, and given that a number of guests were staying at this hotel for the night as part of a longer journey, they found the nearby access to the main artery facilitated their journey.

Guests were impressed with the service received from staff at this hotel. Front desk staff and management were mentioned specifically.

A number of guests found it convenient having a complimentary continental breakfast served on site.

Rooms were clean and generally well-maintained, according to guests.
The Bad
Many of the reviews used for this analysis were positive but guests did have a few complaints in common. They mostly centred on aging decor.

A few guests had trouble with the sofabeds and said that they were hard to pull out, and that there was very little space in the room once they had the bed out.

Decor was said to be aging and a number of updates were suggested by guests, including carpets and linens.

A few guests were disappointed that not all rooms had a mini-fridge.

Some guests said that there was inadequate seating available in the breakfast room to fit all the guests that wanted to dine at the same time.

"My stay there was very disappointing. I was called to work on short notice, shopped around for a reasonable room/rate. This was the cheapest. From what I understand there was a hockey tournament while I was staying there. The noise levels were unacceptable. The service not worth mentioning & the beds were the most uncomfortable I've EVER slept on. Very disappointing considering I'm trying to make a living & working 10hr days. I will not be back!"

"I enjoyed the stay. I found the staff to be helpful and gave me a very descent rate for my room. I also found the staff to be friendly. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family. A happy customer."

"Poor seating arrangements for the free continental breakfast. TV trays and 4 chairs in a tiny sitting area ... we had to take ours back to the room because there was not enough room. The location of the hotel made access to entering/exiting difficult (too close to a set of traffic lights on the busy highway 17), although after asking if there was a better way to exit, they told us we could use a back "alley" as an exit point. Exiting west would have been impossible!"

4 out of 10 | Steve stayed June 19, 2004

"This hotel was definately not a hundred dollar per night hotel. The total for one night with tax was over $110 and it was not worth that amount. In the U.S., we wouldn't pay more than $59 for this room. I don't know why the price was so inflated."
