The Good
This hotel received almost equal positive and negative reviews in the reviews used for this analysis. The positive comments focused on the hotel's staff, location, free breakfast, and rooms.

Many guests complimented the staff for being friendly, courteous and professional.

The location was praised by many guests. One guest said "So convenient to everything... shopping, restaurants, entertainment and waterfront!"

Numerous guests thought the complimentary breakfast had a good selection of food.

Reviews about cleanliness and comfort at the hotel were sometimes contradictory. Some guests thought the rooms were clean and comfortable, especially the beds. Some guests did not agree (see below).
The Bad
There were some persistent negative comments in the reviews used for this analysis about noise on weekends, uncomfortable beds, dirty rooms, and the lack of an elevator.

A common complaint was noise levels during the weekends. One guest said "if you happen to stay on a Friday or Saturday night be prepared for young people in the doorways drinking, smoking and not being mindful of noise levels, etc." There were also complaints about noisy sports teams staying in the hotel.

While some guests said the beds were comfortable, a few said the beds were not comfortable. One guest said "The bed was too soft. I had back pain after I woke up."

Another contradictory complaint was the cleanliness of the rooms. While some guests thought the rooms were clean, there were also some complaints regarding hallways that were said to be unclean and smelling of smoke. Others found cigarette burns on the comforters and trash around their rooms.

The hotel has three floors and no elevator, which bothered some guests.

"Rob from pembroke"

"Reception was very disorganized. Charged for room upon check in and wanted to charge another 85 dollars on check out. Rowdy bunch of young people knocking on doors at 3 in the morning both nights and when complained to desk kim offered a discount on room for the inconvenience and then told us no because we booked through a web site."

"Noisy rude party boys"

"Hotel and staff were great! First night was good. Second night was horrible! A large group of young men partied in the room above us and kept us and other guests all night. Staff did get them under control however we woke to our mini van parked in the parking lot, having beer cans on the roof, the bumper and other debris around our van."

"Discovered late at night that the lock on the window was broken. Within 10 minutes the hotel had staff had assigned us another room right next to us. I have a problem walking and they were very quick to ensure that I had a groundfloor room close to the lobby. When I had trouble using the phone (my fault) the person on duty at the desk came to our room to dial the number in case the phone did not work - which it did but I did not dial correctly. Nice folks ! Ann from Sault Ste. Marie, ON"

"Generally a good place to stay, the styles and layout of the rooms are nice. However I would have preferred a non-smoking room, but due to the occupancy rate this particular weekend that wasnt possible. They appear to have equal amounts of smoking and non-smoking rooms, when I feel that the non-smoking rooms should out number the smoking rooms. Again, given the high occupancy, fellow guests were rowdy and incorrigible to keep the noise down, and staff did not assist. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate my stay a "6", not good and not bad."

"You get your money's worth. The continental breakfast is a definite plus."

8 out of 10 | Bill stayed February 13, 2004

"This was just a quiet time away from business, customers, and phones. I wanted some time to relax in a location with a hottub and pool. The facilities were great. My only comment would be that the water in the hottub could have been a little hotter. I would return any time."
