The Good
There seemed to be a variance of opinion in the reviews, although many guests showed their approval of the hotel with good scores.

This hotel offers a variety of rooms that present a somewhat different experience and impression to guests. Rooms in the tower are newer and can be accessed by an elevator. These rooms are also smoke free and pet free. There is also an older motel section without elevators, that allows smoking and pets and requires a walk up a flight of stairs to the second level.

Guests often advised staying in the newer tower section where rooms were well equipped with mini-fridges, microwaves and comfortable beds.

The hotel offers an outdoor seasonal pool and an indoor pool which guests often said looked a little outdated, but was clean.

For the most part staff were described as friendly and helpful, although some guests found them unbending with regard to policies and rules and some guests complained of unfriendly staff.

The restaurant was well liked by guests overall. Guests found the food and service satisfying and said there were a few different craft beers on tap and excellent choices of liquor. The chef was accommodating for those with gluten intolerance and was helpful with vegans wanting special meals.

Breakfast was another highlight. Although not free, guests liked the buffet with a large variety of hot foods.

Location was a plus. It was very accessible to Hwy 400, walking distance to restaurants, Tim Hortons and a short drive to the outlets in Cookstown, and to Wasaga Beach.

The Bad
Although the hotel had a lot of satisfied guests who gave it good scores, there were also guests who were disappointed in their stays.

These guests complained of dated rooms and some described them as run down and tired. Occasionally guests were surprised to be placed in the motel section, as they were unaware that the hotel had an older, motel section.

There were disappointed guests that had specifically requested a smoke-free room and area of the hotel, and were placed where smoke filtered into their room, or even worse, in a smoking room.

There were some complaints from seniors with mobility issues, who were given rooms on the second floor of the motel section which could only be accessed by a flight of stairs, with no offer to help with luggage.

Some guests found it hard to locate the front desk, with lots of hallways and poor signage.

There were some complaints of noise disturbances from partiers and from children playing and people speaking in the halls in the early morning hours.

Sometimes guests were disappointed that the bar closed at 10 pm. They felt it was too early. Recently some guests felt the recent changes to the menu at the restaurant were a letdown.

Guests without cars thought it was a little far to downtown with no public transit options.
