Located just off Highway 400, this hotel is a popular choice with guests who need a place to stay while passing through Barrie, or those looking to stay and explore Barrie and its surrounding area. The indoor pool, hot tub and fitness centre may attract guests with kids and those looking to maintain an active lifestyle while on vacation.
This 100% smoke-free facility has 104 rooms (including some suites), which offer two queen-sized beds or one king-sized bed. All guest rooms have a coffeemaker, a hair dryer, a desk, a lap desk, an iron and ironing board, a 32" flat screen TV with cable and in-room movies and free Wi-Fi and wired internet access. Suites also come with a microwave, a mini fridge, a free daily newspaper (weekdays only) and a seating area with a sofabed. Pets are not allowed at this hotel.
The Hampton Inn and Suites offers a free hot breakfast daily and has an indoor salt water pool and hot tub and a fitness centre for guest use. The 945 sq. ft. of meeting or event space can host up to 120 guests. A business centre with computer and internet use also offers fax, printing, mailing and copying services. There is no restaurant on site, but there are several dining options within a 5 to 10-minute drive from the hotel.
Centennial Park is within a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Georgian College and Georgian mall are within a 10 to 15-minute drive, as is downtown Barrie which hosts many shops, restaurants and a local theatre. Park Place (formerly Molson Amphitheatre) is also a 10-minute drive from the hotel. The GoodThe majority of reviews used for this analysis were positive. Guests praised the staff, the breakfast, the pool and hot tub, the guest rooms, the location and the linens.
Many guests were impressed by the staff and said they were very accommodating, friendly and professional.
The complimentary breakfast was raved about by numerous guests as being "one of the best complimentary breakfasts" they'd had. They felt the selection was great and the food was plentiful.
Several guests enjoyed the salt water pool and hot tub during their stay. It was large enough for both adults and children to enjoy.
The guest rooms were said to be spacious, clean and comfortable. Some guests also described the rooms as modern and classy.
Several guests praised the location of the hotel for being close to the highway, but far enough away that it was very quiet. The close access to the highway enabled guests to reach all attractions in Barrie and surrounding area easily.
The bed linens were complimented by many guests who felt they were of a very high quality. A couple of guests said the linens made them feel as though they were staying in a more expensive hotel.
The Bad
The majority of the reviews used in this analysis were positive, however there were a few complaints. These complaints were about the lack of restaurant on site, the Wi-Fi and late night noise.
A few guests felt there should be restaurant on site, as there are very limited dining options within walking distance of the hotel.
The Wi-Fi was said to be unreliable or slow according to a few guests. However, it is important to note that there were almost as many reviewers who complimented the speed of the Wi-Fi.
A couple of guests were disturbed by late night noise in the hotel. They said they heard loud talking and laughing in the hallway late at night.
