The Days Inn Barrie is located just off Highway 400 and is an 8-minute drive from the shops, restaurants and waterfront of downtown Barrie. This budget property with free breakfast, free parking, indoor pool and mini-kitchens, is well-suited for families and travellers wanting to access nearby points of interest.

This hotel has 78 smoke-free and air-conditioned rooms and suites. All rooms have one king bed or two queen beds. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, free local calls, a 37” flat-screen TV with cable, a Keurig coffeemaker, a mini fridge, a microwave, a desk with ergonomic chair, and iron and ironing board and a hairdryer. Some rooms may offer a sitting area, a mini-kitchen (mini-fridge, microwave, sink with counter, dishware), a fireplace and a 1-person jetted tub in the bathroom.

Parking is free and large vehicles can be accommodated. Two pets are allowed at a fee of $10 per pet, per night.

This hotel offers a free continental breakfast with hot waffles from 6 am to 10 am daily. There is no restaurant on site, but there are several dining options within a 5-minute drive from the hotel.

Hotel amenities include an elevator, an indoor salt water pool, a hot tub, a fitness centre, a business centre, meeting facilities, dry cleaning, guest laundry and free newspapers. 

Splash Canyon Water Park & Resort offers family fun 18 minutes away by car. Barrie Molson Centre sports and entertainment centre is a 7-minute drive away. Georgian College and shopping at Georgian mall are within a 10-minute drive. Park Place offers an open-air shopping experience about a 7-minute drive and Georgian Downs offers horse racing, a 10-minute drive from the hotel.

The Good
The majority of the reviews read for this analysis were positive and they focused on helpful staff, comfortable and peaceful rooms, and a good complimentary breakfast.

Many guests appreciated the attentiveness, helpfulness and caring attitude of the staff. Many of these guests felt the staff members really cared about whether their guests were happy, instead of just doing their job. Some guests told of how the staff made the difference for them at this hotel, went out of their way to be helpful and were also able to provide recommendations for restaurants and activities.

Guests appreciated clean and comfortable rooms with nice bedding.

Many guest reviewers were pleased with the variety and quality at the free breakfast.

Some guests highlighted good times at the pool and it was noted that it was clean and well maintained.

Value for price was mentioned by several guests as well. Some of the guests appreciated that this older property was being renovated (April 2015) and that the renovations were bringing minimal interruption to their stays.
The Bad
While the majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there was some negative feedback provided to the hotel in online reviews.

Not many people commented at all about the Wi-Fi, but a few guests said it was slow during their stay.

Occasionally guests would voice disapproval of being charged a damage deposit (that was reversed when they left).

Some guests complained of maintenance issues as the property was in need of some repairs, or beds that they found to be too hard, too soft or too padded.

Occasionally a guest would lament that there were no restaurants in nearby walking distance from the hotel.
