The newly-renovated Four Points by Sheraton is my second choice for good value in Barrie. It’s a little more money than Super 8, and also conveniently close to the highway and restaurants. Rooms are very clean and spacious and have beautiful, modern decor. They are well equipped with large flat screen TVs, mini-fridges and microwaves, as well as great comfy beds and glassed-in showers. Guests have the convenience of a restaurant on site serving breakfast and dinner, and can relax with a drink in the sports bar on a cold winter's night. There's a very well-liked indoor saltwater pool and hot tub for guests. Although there is no free breakfast, the hotel is still well priced and has friendly staff. There's ample free parking and free Wi-Fi.

My third choice for value is the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Barrie. It’s a well-priced and highly-rated hotel with a very clean and well-maintained room. It lacks a restaurant on site with nothing much in walking distance, but it’s close to Hwy 400, so guests can find reasonable dining choices in about 5 minutes by car. Freebies such as a well-liked hot and cold breakfast buffet, ample parking, and very good Wi-Fi adds great value to the stay. An indoor saltwater pool with hot tub and fitness centre rounds out the experience and adds a little fun for the youngsters. This is a pet-free and smoke-free environment which helps to keep the hotel clean and guests loved the staff here and felt treated right. Many were happy with the free all-day coffee, tea, cookies and fruit in the lobby which added warmth and a sense of hospitality to the stay.
