This hotel is housed in what was originally a Scottish ship captain's mansion that was built towards the end of the 19th century. The mansion has been restored to preserve much of the period decor and is appealing to guests who are interested in local history.

There are 31 uniquely decorated rooms at this hotel, each with free Wi-Fi, a flat screen HDTV, a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board. All rooms are air conditioned. Some rooms also feature a fireplace, jetted tub, a sitting room with a second TV, a mini-fridge, a microwave and/or a coffemaker.

There is a cottage that has a mini-fridge, a microwave, a fireplace, a king bed, a private terrace and a two-person jetted tub.

Guests are offered a complimentary continental breakfast daily from 7:30 am to 10 am. Afternoon tea is also available from 3 pm to 4:30 pm. The Blomidon Inn Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The restaurant is licensed and features food prepared with items from the chef's garden. Free parking is available on site. There is a large gift shop and this hotel is surrounded by Victorian-style gardens, ponds and walking paths. Meetings, receptions, banquets and other events can be held on the terrace, in the dining room or in the sitting rooms.

This hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from the downtown Wolfville area. Acadia University is a 3-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from this hotel. The Good
The bulk of reviews used for this analysis were favourable and guests were most impressed with the historical charm and with the customer service.

Guests loved the ambiance that this hotel provided and commented favourably on the architecture and Victorian period pieces. They described their accommodations as cozy and quaint and as having character and charm.

The food, service and atmosphere at the on-site restaurant were appreciated by guests. They commented on a varied and innovative menu and on tasty food. Guests said that portions were plentiful and described the dining experience as gourmet.

Staff were superior, according to guests who appreciated their personable, warm and attentive service. Several guests felt that service from staff contributed heavily to a home-like atmosphere.

This hotel was centrally located and easy to find. Several guests liked its proximity to shops and restaurants.

The Bad
The vast majority of reviews used for this analysis were positive but guests did voice a few common complaints, most notably about the absence of elevators and about aging decor.

A few guests found the lack of elevators to be inconvenient, especially for those with a lot of luggage to manage or for those with mobility issues. This hotel does offer a room on their main floor to accommodate guests needing wheelchair access.

While a number of guests appreciated the authentically historic charm of hotel, a few suggested that some of the decor was looking a little rundown and could use refurbishment. They mentioned furniture and specific decor items like dark wood panelling specifically.

Some guests complained about the air conditioning at the hotel. Some said that units were loud and rattling, and some had issues with regulating the temperature in their rooms. Some guests said that hallways were warm and stuffy as well.
