"The hotel hallways smelled of smoke. I asked for a wake up call and it never came."
Hywel from Hinton, AB CA stayed on August 02, 2006

"The restaurant service was horrific! Unfortunately, it is not located near any other restaurants so you are forced to eat there if you don't have a vehicle. The service in the restaurant was so poor there that I would avoid this hotel at all costs!"
Arthur from Amherst, MA US stayed on July 09, 2006

"Hotel lacks an elevator to access non-ground floor rooms. Until a few weeks ago this was the only option for those needing a shuttle to the airport. Now, with the opening of the new Airport HIlton, travelers will have a choice and perhaps, with the competition, we will see more value for the dollar."
Anonymous guest from Saint John, NB CA stayed on April 16, 2006

"shuttle service to airport was excellent without additional charge"
Maureen from Ottawa, ON CA stayed on December 21, 2005

"The heating in the room was like a blast furnace, and the unit very noisy. There was a thermostat to set the temp, but I couldn't seem to regualate the temperaure very well. There was coffee and tea available in the room, but tea drinkers would much prefer to have milk or cream rather than powdered dairy whitener."
Gary from Yellowknife, NT CA stayed on September 27, 2005

"Lack of elevators is a major detriment. Proximity to the airport and the 24 hour free shuttle service is the most outstanding feature. Inhouse restaurant is pretty good."
Anonymous guest from Sherwood Park, AB CA stayed on September 10, 2005

"-Poor ventilation; our bathroom smelled like an ashtray and we don't smoke. -Uncomfortable bed and pillows. -Mildew on bathroom tiles. The only thing going is the proximity to the airport and the friendly staff."
Anonymous guest from Victoria, BC CA stayed on September 04, 2005

"Too expensive for what you get, but the convenience to the airport was appreciated."
Christopher from Arlington, VA US stayed on August 28, 2005

"A lot of money for an old, run-down hotel, with no elevator and outdated rooms. Our bathroom had hair on the floor from the previous occupant. Close to the airport, but that's about it."
David from Calgary, NS CA stayed on August 27, 2005

"Although a bit nervous about booking at this hotel - largely based on some other reviews, I and my family were pleasantly surprised. It's perfect if your just stopping overnite before a flight. The rooms were clean. Two pools (indoor & outdoor) were in operation so we managed to spend a relaxing last evening on AV before our flight out the next day."
Kristine m from Frederick, MD US stayed on August 27, 2005

"I only spent a few hours at the hotel so I don't feel I could rate it properly. But when I got in early in the morning, they were courteous and helpful to a tired traveler. The bathroom tile could use some new grouting (SP?)"
Merle from Calgary, AB CA stayed on August 23, 2005

"Washroom shower was a little grungy, and needs to be updated."
Marie from Waterloo, ON CA stayed on August 18, 2005

"While it was extremely convenient to get to an early flight at the airport, the hotel was very noisy. We could here alarm clocks going off all night and people walking around in their rooms and in the hallway which made for a difficult night's sleep. Also, the restaurant food was too limit for a vegetarian family's needs, but we were trapped there without transportation, so we ended up with a plate of nachos and junk from the vending machines for dinner."
Anonymous guest from Lackawanna, NY US stayed on August 14, 2005

"Only for the convenience to the airport would I recommend this hotel. Not having an elevator is unbelievable in this day & age. Very difficult to get around in front of hotel also"
Mark from Scarborough, ON CA stayed on August 06, 2005

"There were two items that took away from our stay at your hotel. The first was that we got in at 12:30 AM. Although we knew about the shuttle, there was no clear sign as to where the pickup was, and the shelter is not labeled. As a result, I ended up phoning (via a pay phone, as I was unaware of the direct line), and was told where to wait. We waited for about 40 minutes, then phoned again. Whoever answered said (lied) that the shuttle had been there a couple of times since I first called - we had not left the shelter in that time, and that is where we were, eventually, picked up. Additionally, the pool/sauna/hot tub was closed. We Could have stayed at a motel!"
Wendell from Calgary, AB CA stayed on July 31, 2005

"The only difficulty I had was trying to get a local dail up number for internet access, high speed would be a very good addition. The shuttle crews were fantastic, virtually no waiting! Restaurant is reasonably priced and good service."
Anonymous guest from Berwick, NS CA stayed on July 31, 2005

"Great location 3 minutes from airport! Friendly helpful service. RB"
Gilbert from Saint Helens, OR US stayed on July 15, 2005

"We had stayed one night at your hotel at the beginning of our vacation in Nova Scotia. We are staying again because the hotel was very convenient to the Halifax International Airport. This time we decided to try the restaurant in the hotel. The restaurant was very cold, dark, and the service was extremely slow. The food was good once we finally got it. We had to thaw out in our room after freezing for so long in the restaurant. Again the many stairs either in the parking lot, going from one floor of the hotel to another, or just going to our room was very inconvenient for transporting our luggage having no elevator for three floors in the hotel."
Kenneth from Stoke On Trent, GB stayed on July 15, 2005

"On arrival after a long flight from England, reception did not know if they had a room cleaned and ready for occupation this was at 18.30pm in the evening."
Gilbert from Saint Helens, OR US stayed on July 06, 2005

"There are no signs leading to this hotel from the airport. We got directions from the rental car company at the airport. It is true that there is no elevator in this hotel that has three floors. It was difficult to navigate the stairs with our luggage. There are additional stairs on each floor that make it impossible to do anything but carry your luggage on all stairwells and stairs. The hotel was quiet at night though so that made the stay easier. We requested a non-smoking room with a queen sized bed and we received that. Check-in was as prompt as possible because there were several couples checking in at the same time as us which was later in the evening. There is only one restaurant located within the hotel. The parking lot is spread out. The lot directly in front of the hotel is at a lower level than the entrance to the hotel. You have to carry your luggage up several stairs there also. Be prepared to be carrying your luggage several times during your arrival, check-in, going to your room, and departure."
Cara from Plano, TX US stayed on July 03, 2005

"I felt the bathroom could have been cleaner.....Otherwise, it was fine. Your staff was very friendly and helpful. THX"
Crista from Weyers Cave, VA US stayed on June 28, 2005

"The most important feature of this hotel is the location: when arriving at Halifax Airport late in the day, or planning to leave early in the morning, it is the only option within easy distance. The free 24-hour shuttle to the airport was very helpful. Staff - at front desk, in bar and dining room, and driver of the shuttle - were courteous, pleasant, and helpful. The lack of an elevator made getting baggage into and out of the rooms and to/from the front lobby to catch the shuttle a bit trying."
Anonymous guest from Paradise, NF CA stayed on June 28, 2005

"Although my stay was overnight it was comfortable."
Jo?lle from St-pierre Miquelon, PM stayed on June 20, 2005

"A very poor and small bedroom (#141) with unconfortable bed and more expensive than a double beds room paid same day by a friend. Can you advise why?? However, very nice people for the shuttle and the restaurant. Regards. Jo¸«³lle OLAISOLA"
Jim charles from Vancouver, BC CA stayed on June 20, 2005

"My flight was delayed so I arrived after the restaurant had closed. The only option was a vending machine offering sweets and potato chips. This was disappointing for me especially since the location is so isolated. Otherwise, I found the service and hotel to be very good."
Robert from Marathon, FL US stayed on June 19, 2005

"This hotel seems to have a bit of a monopoly on airport "overnighter's" who don't want to make the trek into Halifax. For one who arrives late, and then leaves early on their ongoing connection, it is a bit much to pay almost $150.00 for nothing but a sleep. I am a local, trying merely to get to Sydney from Halifax, when one's US arrival is too late to make the connection, one must then spend the night before continuing on in the morning. I would expect you would have a discounted rate for senior's, but it was HIGHER! As I expect to make this trip frequently, I shall be looking hard for more economic stopover sleeping accommodations."
Kent from Trenton, ON CA stayed on May 29, 2005

"The staff at the lounge were very fast and super friendly. The shuttle service was outstanding. For overnighters its an excellent deal!"
Douglas from Belfast, XB stayed on May 06, 2005

"Restaurant decor is a bit dark and gloomy"
Walter from Poin, PQ CA stayed on April 21, 2005

"The hotel did not have high speed internet connection. As a result I was unable to access my e-mails, or do any work on my computer. When I would make inquiries at the desk, the feeling I got was that I was bothering them. Their location to the airport was the only real positive thing as far as I am concerned. Their indoor pool would require a paint job. The water looked dirty as a result. No towels in the pool are like most hotels."
Catherine from Edlesborough, GB stayed on April 12, 2005

"The shower head was not secured to the wall. One had to pull hard at the fawcett to get the shower to work. As the fitting was loose this meant almost pulling it from the wall. The tv did not work properly, the sound was defective on some channels. Others did not work at all. The thermostat for the heating was broken. The drinks machine in the hall was out of order. I do not feel that this room represented good value for money. I should add that we had to stay at this hotel twice due to its proximity to the airport. I am referring to our first stay. The second room was marginally better."
Janet from Port Colburn, ON US stayed on January 06, 2005

"We will be using this hotel again, as we have in the past."
Anonymous guest from Toronto, ON CA stayed on December 30, 2004

"I would recommend this hotel to someone who needed to stay close to the airport but only for that reason. The rooms could use better sound proofing. We were awoken several times by doors closing and voices of those passing through the hallway. The bathroom was the smallest one we have ever seen. Overall the hotel was nothing to write home about but it did serve it's purpose by keeping us close the airport for an early flight."
Anonymous guest from Canmore, AB CA stayed on December 03, 2004

"Even with the heat on we found the room temperature very cool. The water pressure in the shower was extremely strong as well. We came from Alberta, so we were 3 hours behind your local time. Since your restaurant closes at 11pm and there was no local restaurants open when we called them, we were very hungry. It would be nice to have something in the fridge, or even in the vending machines besides chocolate bars. We wouldn't have minded paying for something in the fridge in our room, but it was empty. Just a suggestion. The staff was excellent, room very clean, shuttle service excellent, thank you. Have a nice day."
Robert from St-martin, CA stayed on November 23, 2004

"The best thing that I can say is that I felt as if you guys were waiting for me to come in. My plane got in at midnight and when I arrived at the front desk to check in, the lady asked for my last name and she was very nice. She had already done all the paper work for the check before I got there, it took here about 1 minute to check me in, give me my room key and wish me a good night sleep. This was very important for me to get to my room quickly and this lady did a great job. Please thank here for me again, she was on the night shift Monday november 22nd. Keep up the good work. Robert Lessard"
Charles from Lake Charles, LA US stayed on November 10, 2004

"The food in your restaurant was good. The local beer served was excellent. It was easy to get from the hotel to the airport and to our business meeting in Lunenburg. Charles Harvey"
Thomas from Strasburg, VA US stayed on October 09, 2004

"Hotel attendents were very polite and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I feel that it was very overpriced though. Enjoyed the stay. Thank you."
Amy from Mississagua, ON CA stayed on October 09, 2004

"We just stayed for one night. The staff was very nice and the shuttle service is a nice touch, but it's a bit expensive for what it offers. Our room seemed to be in the basement."
Joy from Loveland, OH US stayed on September 11, 2004

"The smoke-holes in the bed cover and the lack of outlets in the room really place this hotel below others that we have stayed in, and the dated colors and arrangement of the split bathroom date it to a time period when other ammenities were less expected than they are today. The room was large, but there were only a handful of free TV channels for viewing. However, it is the closest hotel to the airport, if not the only one, and is most easily accessed from the airport. The pricing reflects this monopoly, not the quality."
Donna from Kamloops, BC CA stayed on September 07, 2004

"As we were in N.S. for a wedding in Riverport, we only stayed the last nite in Halifax. We were accomodated when it was discovered we were given a non smoking room in error. The only thing was that the ceiling in the smoking room was very badly stained and therefore looked to be a bit tacky compared to the non smoking room. It also would be a good idea to make the windows able to open to get fresh air in the room. Other than that I cannot comment as we only stayed briefly and were gone by 4:30 a.m. The staff was friendly but I do feel that smokers and non-smokers should be given the same quality of room."
Skrebutenas from Ottawa, ON CA stayed on September 04, 2004

"Service in the restaurant was a bit slow. Food was adequate in quality. Shuttle service was excelent. Proximity to the airport is the big plus for this hotel."
James from Anaheim, CA US stayed on August 22, 2004

"We were on our way to PEI from the Halifax Airport so we wern't able to take advantage of your hotels facilities. Your hotel staff was very attentive. Thanks for this opportunity. Judy A. Mclaughlin"
Neil from Miami, FL US stayed on August 10, 2004

"restaurant was surprisingly good"
Marcel from Orleans, ON CA stayed on August 05, 2004

"Only good for late night arrival from Halifax Airport and would not stay longer due to lack of services in the area (isolated)"
Ann from St. Philip's, NF CA stayed on August 04, 2004

"the staff were friendly. I think your facility must be old. It could do with some renovations and brightening. Overall, I chose it as a place to lay my head for the night and it served that purpose well but I don't think I would choose it for a long stay. Thanks for asking."
Carolyn j. from Cave Junction, OR US stayed on July 22, 2004

"Was very tired and check in was very fast and got to room very fast."
Sarah from Oakville, ON US stayed on July 18, 2004

"thank you for the opportunity to speak with you. There were two major concerns about your hotel. First, the lack of signage. We had a terrible time trying to find the hotel. 2 or 3 signs on the highway would have saved us a lot of time and gas. Second, I can't believe you had no elevator. My mother was with me and she's 81 years old and uses a cane. Had I known about the lack of elevators I think we would have chosen another hotel. Your location is good."
David from Black Diamond, WA US stayed on October 21, 2003

"Hi- I also stayed at this hotel the night of September 30, the Tuesday after hurricane Juan went thru the area. In spite of the fact that there was no power (lights, ventilation, hot water, meals, ect.) we were charged the full price to stay there. Just because this hotel is the only one at the airport, doesn't give them the right to rip people off. The people there were worse than Americans."
