This property is pet-friendly (less than 50lbs) and charges $35 per night/pet with a maximum of 2 pets per room. The hotel offers free accommodation to children 17 years-old and younger when they are staying with a parent or guardian.

Parking is available in an above ground parking garage at a cost of $22.94/day or $26.45/day for valet parking. The costs include unlimited in-out privileges each day.

The Delta Halifax has an on-site indoor pool, a sauna, a whirlpool and a workout room with cardio and strength training equipment. The facilities are open daily from 6:30am to 11pm. The Sore Spots Massage Therapy and Spa is also housed within the hotel.

Additional facilities include meeting and banquet space, all rooms feature views of the Halifax harbour, and the hotel has two rooftop ballrooms. Additionally, the property offers same day dry-cleaning service (extra charges apply).

The on-site restaurant, Harbour City Bar and Grill, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and operates from 7am - 12am, seven days a week. Room service is also available for guests from 6:30am - 11pm.

The Good
This hotel had mostly positive reviews and the property received a lot of compliments that covered a broad spectrum of hotel features.

Most guests remarked that their rooms were clean and comfortable. Several guests described their rooms as "spotless", while other reviewers commented on the quality of the provided pillows. Other guests found their rooms well appointed and quiet.

Almost all guests who ate at the on-site restaurant were happy with the food they received. One guest said the food was "nothing short of amazing" and a couple reviewers thought the menu was reasonably priced.

The staff at this hotel were also highly praised for both their friendly demeanours and their quick and efficient check-ins. One guest commented that the front desk staff "made (him/her) feel like (he/she) was the most important customer who came through the door", while another guest said that future guests could "expect to be killed with kindness".

Guests were also happy with the hotel's proximity to area restaurants, pubs, shops, and Halifax attractions. Most reviewers also mentioned the convenience of the hotel being part of the pedway system and one guest, for example, said that he/she did "not have to go outdoors for anything".

Many guests said they would definitely return to this property and a couple reviewers thought that the hotel offered good value for the money they spent.

The Bad
Most of the negative reviews were somewhat old and mentioned problems with the Internet that have since been addressed. A few guests had no access or only limited access to the Internet at this property but at time of writing the official hotel website indicated that all rooms had been upgraded with wireless Internet capabilities so perhaps these kinds of complaints will fade in the future.

Aside from the Internet, there were a few reviewers who felt the rooms could use some upgrades. One guest found there to be too few electrical outlets for her devices. Another guest described the bathroom tiles as not up to the standard of the rest of the room and a few guests also mentioned that they were not supplied with enough towels and had to request more from the front desk staff.

A few guests found the parking rates expensive and almost all the other negative reviews described isolated experiences. One guest found the in-room heating ineffective. Another guest described the pool and hot tub area as dated. A couple reviewers found service at the on-site restaurant slow, while a few other guests had difficulty locating the front entrance of this hotel.

"Would return"
"This is a great location -- downtown, walking distance to shops, restaurants and bars, which my adult kids, nieces and nephew enjoyed. Front desk friendly and ccommodating - getting a harbour view and 2 rooms on the same floor as requested. Valet service excellent. The exercise room was fairly well equipped, and connected to the pool area - all were clean with access to drinking water and towels. Pool and whirlpool well maintained. Female sauna was too hot (110F) to enjoy. Both rooms were well maintained with comfortable beds and sheets. Had in-room food service - prompt, only complaint was the house salad did not come with all the ingredients listed on the menu. Went out for the day, upon our return there was a wonderful surprise - from in-room service - they knew we were there for a Celebration of Life -- they had given us a wonderful chocolates mousse ball with 2 glasses of wine in the fridge and a beautiful note from them. Outstanding. Dining room food was very good - though a bit over priced. Would definitely return."

"Halifax Barrington"
"Although having a confirmed reservation for a King Size front desk staff insisted that there were only double beds left..finally on the 3rd try they apparently relented and granted me my confirmed reservation of a King...fourth floor hallway carpets were flithy and stained...room 406 wallpaper was peeling off wall...comfortable mattress...good location."

"Front desk staff, specifically Melissa and Tina were an absolute delight. Professional, courteous and also very personable. Looked forward to passing the desk. The lady that took care of my room, #612, I beleive her name on the sheet was listed as Tina G., did a great job. I left her a note and a little tip for doing such a good job."
