"People were nice and helpful. Room a bit worn; carpet had a large stain. Good location for Citadel, walking to waterfront, restaurants and other attractions. Easy in and out by automobile once we got our directions."

"Staff was helpful. The reason my room may have been below average is they were quite busy and tired to accomadate my request for one queen sized bed rather than 2 doubles. The scary thing was they said that I was upgraded to a deluxe room at no charge. This room had soiled carpet, wallpaper falling off, cracked sink and a portable fridge that if not an antigue, would certainly be a collectable. All in all, this being said, it was within walking distance to downtown, the water was hot and the linens were clean."

"Our 2 night stay was excellent, even though we were loud at early hours of the morning we were very pleased to not have hotel attendants pounding on our doors telling us to turn the music down. It was an excellent stay and I will choose the Citadel upon my return to Halifax, Thank-you
Chris"

"The front desk receptionist was exceptional in her service. We arrived very early on the day of check-in and she made every attempt to get our room ready for us ahead of check-in time. Couldn't have asked for a more pleasant person to deal with."

"Great location for walking and driving. They accommodated my pre-arranged late arrival without any hassel. Unfortunately my room was not clean when I arrived. Also, my room was beside the elevator and ice machine which was extremely noisy all night long.
I would not stay there again for $145 per night."

"We were surprised that we had to pay $9.00 for guest parking at this hotel. When I mentioned it to the clerk she simply stated that "it's the cheapest parking in town" with no explanation as to why we had to pay.
We have stayed at other hotels in Halifax and did not have to pay for parking so we know it's not the cheapest parking in town.
Other than that, our stay was very enjoyable.
Thanks."

"It was quite obvious that the hotel is very old and is in need of upgrading. For instance in the lobby, the carpet was ripped in certain sections, the rooms did not have their own air conditioning units, bathroom fixtures were very old, the rooms were noisy...you could hear everything going on in the next rooms as well as noise traffic in the hallway, there was no express check-out and no complimentary breakfast (ie. Continental breakfast offered by most Hotel chains) I was surprised and thought that the price for the room was far too much. I would have rated the hotel as a two star hotel. What was redeeming with the hotel was the staff; extremely friendly and very helpful."

"It was OK until I went to leave the parking lot. You need a pass and a dashboard ticket to exit and enter during your stay. As I left the hotel (it was raining), the parking lot attendant made it a point to confiscate my parking pass and dashboard ticket by asking me to step out of the car and give it to him. My last step before the control booth, landed me in two inches of water and soaked myshoes and feet. He then said that the hotel people built the parking lot that way without sufficient drainage. So in fact, he seemed to know that I would get my feet wet and did nothing to prevent that. Of course, my thoughts to myself as I left the hotel parking lot was "GD idiot!" So when you have that kind of attitude by a staffer, all the surveys in the world mean little.
This happened at 7:30 AM, July 6th."
