Overview
Located just off the Trans-Canada Highway (104) and about a 3-minute drive from the Nova Scotia/New Brunswick Border, this hotel is well suited for roadside travellers stopping off as part of a longer journey.

Both smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. All of the 88 rooms at this hotel have free Wi-Fi, free local calls, a TV with cable channels, a coffeemaker, a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board. Standard rooms come with either one or two double beds. More spacious suites are available with a pull-out couch and either one king or two queen beds. Room extras include a microwave, a desk, a mini-fridge and a double jacuzzi.

Free parking is available on site. Pets are allowed for a cost of $15 per pet, per stay. 

Guests are offered a complimentary continental breakfast every morning. The on-site licensed restaurant (currently closed-July 2015) serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. 

On-site amenities include an indoor pool (currently closed- July 2015) and a hot tub, laundry facilities, vending machines, and meeting space.

The Cumberland County Museum, the original home of R.B. Dickey, one of the Fathers of Confederation, is a 6-minute drive away. The Amherst Point Bird Sanctuary is a 3-minute drive southwest of the hotel.

This hotel is useful as a home base for day trips, as there are several tourist destinations and activities about a 1-hour drive or less away. The Joggins Fossil Cliffs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just under a 30-minute drive away. The Jost Vineyards are just over a 1-hour drive away. (All travel time estimates: Google Maps)

The Good
Although reviews were somewhat mixed, it seems that positive reviews outnumbered negative reviews, among those read for this report.

A number of guests liked this hotel's location, right off the Trans-Canada Highway. They said that it was easy to locate and that it was a convenient stop off as part of a longer journey. A few guests also commented on views of naturally occurring salt marshes and of the Bay of Fundy that the location provided. Some mentioned finding restaurants in town.

Guests praised staff and said that they were friendly, accommodating and helpful. Front desk staff were noted as being particularly customer focused. There was a sense from several guests that staff routinely went above and beyond. 

Rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped, according to guests.

The Bad
While many of the reviews used for this analysis were positive, guests did commonly complain about the dated interior of the hotel and the closed pool and restaurant.

A few guests said that decor was aging in the rooms and needed some attention. Linens, bathrooms and carpets were singled out. 

Guests were sometimes disappointed that the indoor pool and restaurant were closed. The hotel is under new management and is planning to update the hotel and put the pool and restaurant into operation again.
