Another theme across reviews from several sites was concerning a lack of expected room amenities such as coffee makers, irons, hair dryers and shampoo. There was mention of towels being paper thin and sheets being threadbare. Some other complaints from guests reviews were simply stated as: poor television, poor internet. One guest claimed to have requested a fridge only to discover it did not work after their food had spoiled.

"I was extremely disappointed and disgusted with the stay at the triftlodge. I have never seen a worst staff then I saw at the hotel. The front desk clerks were both rude, ignorant, offensive and they were of no help whatsoever when asked questions. First off, I arrived at the front desk to check in, and I said hello, and for 5 minutes I stood there without any acknowledgement, she continued to look through papars, etc. As well, there was an incident where a couple of guests were talking to an older man in the hall, and this must have been to loud for the front desk clerk, because she proceed to stand at the end of the hall, not even walk up to the guests, and proceed to yell, very loudly, and use a lot of profanity in doing so, such as the nice f-word. The use of profanity to guests continued on throughout the stay. As well, when I was getting ready for bed, I need a couple extra pillows and blankets. So I went up to the front desk and asked for some, and I was told that housekeeping was closed. I asked her if she would be able to go down and grab me some, she said no. I then asked her what if my blankets and pillows, etc were dirty, she said housekeeping is closed. So I asked, I wouldn't be able to get clean items, she said no, housekeeping is closed. As well, we needed more towels, as there were only 2 to begin with, I was told I couldn't get any extra, and housekeeping was closed. So I asked when they came in, and I was told 11 the next day, which was checkout time. I was disgusted at this, that a hotel wouldn't care if there were dirty items in a guests room, and they wouldn't do anything about it. Another thing that was quite annoying was the fact that they charge you for ice, small bottles of lotion, shampoo and other items that are free and come included in every other hotel. Upon checkout, the new front desk clerk treated us like dirt, didn't acknowledge us again, the only words she said was do you have your key. That was it, nothing more, and she seemed very annoyed that we interrupted whatever she was doing. Another incident that happened the night before, I saw a guest go up to the front desk to ask a question. The clerk was talking on the phone, which sounded like a friend, as she was talking about plans after work. She did not acknowledge the guest at the desk for about 5 minutes, when she did, she let out a loud sigh, and told whoever was on the line to hold on a second, and then proceed to say to the guest what do you want. The triftlodge hotel is the most disgusting place of business I have ever seen. I would never consider staying there again. As well, what hotel charges $20 extra per person when the actual room holds 4 people, and there are only 4 people staying in the room. The ad that I saw, promised many things, such as coffee in the room, there wasn't even a coffee maker, we had to pay for that too, even little things like phonebooks and pens, we nothing in our room, we had to pay extra to get those things."
