The Bad
Those who did not enjoy their stay were in the minority, in the reviews used for this summary, however a few guest concerns did get raised with some frequency.
The most common complaint was from guests who found the staff and service to be lacking. Although many praised the staff for being friendly and helpful, it was hard to ignore those who stated otherwise. Several guests mentioned difficulty with housekeeping staff who were negligent to replace bedding or towels, fully vacuum and clean counters and tubs. They stated how they had asked for towels or blankets for each person as they were under supplied, but the staff did not accommodate. Still others complained about the Front Desk not answering the phone when they were calling to complain about missing amenities or services. Also, some guests noted that the hotel staff were not very friendly or welcoming.
Although some people were thankful for the parking and the in-and-out privileges, a few guests complained regarding the price of parking considering it to be expensive.
Another concern voiced by several guests of this hotel, in the reviews sourced, was regarding the sense of safety of downtown Winnipeg at night. One guest said he was harassed by street people. Others mentioned that the downtown area is sketchy and dangerous especially in the evening. One guest offered the advice of utilizing the hotel's security to escort you around the property.
Although the hotel is renovating, not all main areas or rooms have been renovated. Some guests complained about the condition of these main areas describing stained carpets and gloomy hallways with stale odours.
More than one guest remarked that the TVs were quite small and hard to see from the bed. A few guests found the AC units to be noisy and one mentioned that they were unable to turn it off. A few guests complained that the Internet did not work, although others said the Internet connection was acceptable. A couple of guests did not like the "rain" shower heads as they preferred a more forceful stream of water for showering.
