The Norwood Hotel Winnipeg is located near the St. Boniface Hospital (a 5-minute walk), with an 8-minute drive to downtown Winnipeg and a 19-minute drive to Winnipeg's international airport. It may appeal to guests wishing to access the Forks Market and River Walk in Winnipeg, about a 3-minute drive or 15-minute walk away and those wanting to be near to the downtown area but away from the rougher core areas of downtown and in a quieter more residential area.

The 100% smoke-free, pet-free and air-conditioned property has 5 storeys, 2 elevators and 52 newly renovated rooms and suites.

Basic room amenities include free wireless and wired high-speed Internet access, work area with lamp, telephone with voicemail and free local calls, coffeemaker, cable television, ironing board with iron, hair dryer and free national newspaper.

King Executive Suites are available with added king-sized bed, living room, dining table for four, refrigerator, deluxe bath robes, and premium bottled water.

Additional amenities and services include free parking, room service, valet laundry, ATM, fax and photocopying (surcharges apply), a free-to-use business centre, safe deposit boxes at Front Desk, plus vending and ice-machines on the 2nd and 4th floor.

On-site dining is available at the Jolly Friar Cafe serving local and international cuisine and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also available in-house is the Wood Tavern & Grill serving lunch and dinner and featuring live music most weekends.

The hotel is within a half-hour's walk (or less than a 7-minute drive from Portage Place Shopping Centre in the downtown area, the Union Station (Via-Rail Train Station) the Shaw Park baseball stadium and the MTS Centre (sports and entertainment venue). Numerous guests enjoyed the breakfast, restaurant food, bar food and room service at the Norwood Hotel and typically gave it high marks. 

Many guests thought highly of the staff calling them efficient, friendly and competent. Some mentioned check-in staff providing good and friendly service, and some spoke of the good quality housekeeping staff.

Location was another plus for guests at the Norwood. Some considered the neighbourhood to be safe, and others praised the location for its nearness to the St. Bonifice Hospital, for being walkable to downtown, and for its easy access to restaurants and shopping.

The hotel in general and guest rooms were considered clean, comfortable and very quiet by many pleased and returning guests. A couple of guests also mentioned that there was plenty of free parking. One guest reviewer mentioned he chose this hotel over downtown hotels because of the free parking offered.
