With 7500 sq. ft. of meeting space, the Holiday Inn Winnipeg South is able to host social and business functions for groups of 10-300 guests. Additionally the hotel offers a Conference Theatre with tiered classroom style seating for up to 65 with LCD projection system, remote control VCR, and satellite down link conferencing capability. The Heritage Ballroom accommodates up to 300 guests in banquet or theatre style seating. The hotel offers event catering to those guests utilizing its meeting and event space.
Dining facilities at the hotel feature an on-site restaurant called Southwinds Bar & Grill Restaurant, which is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves an "internationally influenced" menu. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Children under 12 eat free, when accompanied by an adult guest of the hotel and when ordering off the menu, for all meals.The Southwinds Bar & Grill Lounge (serving light meals) is open daily from 11:30 a.m. and closes at 1:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and a little earlier on Sunday at 11:00 p.m. Room service is available from Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The hotel offers a variety of buffets both to guests of the hotel and to the public. There is a breakfast buffet offered Monday to Saturday that serves a variety of hot and cold items. For an extra $10 per night per room, all guests in the room receive the breakfast buffet at no extra charge. Non-hotel guests and those not paying the special rate for the breakfast buffet, pay $10.95 for adults, $10.00 for seniors 55 years of age and older, and $6.45 for children. Breakfast buffet hours of service are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Luncheon buffets are served, from September to June only, at the same price as the breakfast buffet. On Friday nights an Italian buffet is offered at $19.95 per adult, and on Saturday nights a Prime-Rib buffet is served at $26.95 per adult. Evening buffet hours of service are from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Hotel amenities include free wireless Internet throughout the hotel, free airport shuttle (must be reserved 24 hours in advance to arrange for a driver), free covered parking, indoor pool, whirlpool, kids pool, and fitness centre. Other services and amenities include an office shuttle to nearby business appointments (within 10 km, reservations required), arcade and board games for children, accessible rooms, and services for the hearing impaired. Pets are allowed in certain rooms for $10 per pet, per night. Children under 19 stay free if using existing bedding.
Basic rooms, called Superior Standard, come with the following amenities: a choice of 1 or 2 queen-size beds, a 32" flat-screen television, an over-sized work desk with ergonomic chair, an ironing board with iron, a coffee maker, an AM/FM clock radio, toll free calls, free local calls, calling card calls and pay-per-view movies.
Executive rooms, with a deluxe king-size bed, come with the basic room amenities plus a multi-task lamp, 2 dual-line phones (one with speakerphone functionality), bathrobe, deluxe bathroom amenities, and bottled water.
The Crocus Suite offers an additional separate living area, dining area and ensuite bathroom with Jacuzzi for two persons along with all basic room amenities.

The staff received many compliments for being friendly and providing good service to their guests. One person put it this way: "The staff is amazing and the cleaning staff are the sweetest I have ever met!"
Service and food quality at the restaurant was also very well appreciated by many of the guests who said that the restaurant's food was excellent and praised the buffet breakfast for price, quality and variety.
Rooms were considered to be clean, spacious and comfortable by many reviewers. The hotel has been completely renovated according to the reviewers. The beds were considered comfortable by all who commented with regard to the beds.
Several guests said the pool and hot tub were clean and well-maintained, and they were pleased about the pre-school play structures and wading pool for the little ones.
More than one happy guest reviewer spoke of the hotel's pet policy and how well treated their pets were at this hotel, claiming that the hotel was truly friendly to pets, and that this was the reason they kept returning to this hotel.
Most reviewers thought the hotel was well-located and convenient to downtown shopping, business meetings and medical appointments. Some mentioned that there were restaurants close by.
Finally, and perhaps most enthusiastically, this hotel came highly recommended by many of the guests--many of whom were returning guests themselves.
The Bad
Although this hotel pleased many of their guests there were a few complaints noted in recent guest reviews found online used for this analysis.
Although the free, covered and ample parking was appreciated by guests, a couple of guests mentioned the inconvenience they experienced by not being able to access the parkade from the hotel elevators. One guest stated that it was necessary to go outside from the front lobby and climb stairs to the parking garage. Another guest mentioned that the parking garage and stairwells needed painting and better lighting.
Some guests thought the restaurant was expensive and a couple of guests remarked that the hotel was expensive, although there was some balance of opinion regarding the hotel in general, with others saying it was a good price and good value.
The Wi-Fi received mixed reviews, a couple of guests stating it was fast and reliable and an equal number stating the opposite.
One guest complained that there should be a more firm option for pillows, and another said that the water surged from hot to cold and yet another complained that his wife was given a wake-up call 2 hours too early by mistake without any compensation to her.
