This four storey, air-conditioned property has 139 rooms, suites and theme suites, and 10 meeting and event spaces. All public areas and rooms are smoke-free except for the 4th floor which has smoking guest rooms.
Attached to the hotel is the Original Pancake House (home of Winnipeg's famous Giant Apple Pancake), which is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving Canadian Comfort Food, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday. Room service is also supplied daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The hotel features a waterpark with a two-storey waterslide, kiddie pool, hot tub aroma-infused steam room, free airport shuttle available daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (call from airport when arriving and pre-book at Front Desk for departures), free wireless Internet throughout the hotel, free parking, fitness centre, and weekday newspapers.
The hotel also features the Mineral Spa and Urban Oasis offering spa services, and mineral and hydrotherapy baths (surcharges apply), open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The hotel's Front Desk is open 24 hours per day along with the business centre. Pets are welcomed through the Paws and Whiskers program for a maximum of 4 nights at a surcharge of $15 per day. Pets are supplied with water bowls and treats.
Basic rooms include 2 queen beds, television with cable and satellite reception, in-room movies, individual climate control, coffeemaker, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, and desk.
Suites have all the basic room amenities and feature a king bed with separate living area, a sofabed, a second television, a fridge, a microwave and a granite wet bar. Theme suites offer theme decors with additional hot tubs and dining area for two.
Guests wishing to access downtown shopping at The Bay or Portage Place, or take in a movie at the IMAX Theatre will be downtown in about 10 minutes. The Winnipeg Art Gallery and MTS Centre sports and concert venue are also in the downtown core. The Forks Market and River Walk is a little farther east by about 5 minutes in driving time. This hotel seemed to please its guests along a number of themes according to the guest reviews read for this analysis.
Many guests felt that this hotel offered a quiet, comfortable, spacious and clean accommodation. This was generally said with regard to the regular rooms and not the theme suites, which received more complaints from guests.
The location of the hotel was considered a strong point by many guests, some of which spoke of returning, mainly due to its proximity to Polo Park Shopping Centre, restaurants and big box stores.
The waterpark was enjoyed by more than one guest, some praising its size and cleanliness. The spa facilities, although not a tremendous hit by reviewers, pleased some of the guests who enjoyed relaxing experiences.
Those reviewers who stayed at the hotel for business meetings spoke of the meeting space being clean and adequate and the meals (breakfast and dinners) as being very good and delivered hot to the meeting space.
