While the rooms were tidy the hotel has definitely seen better days

Their new restraunt, Grapes, was really bad Not the fault of the cook, but apparently due to corporate policies set in Winnipeg, who know nothing of the needs of the hotel's Thompson clientel. This franchise is a bad match. Some of the staff intimated that mine has not been the only complaint. I was particularly disappointed because my experience with their previous restraunt (before they got the Grapes franchise) was wonderful. It was one of the primary reasons that I returned to that hotel. (After all, a bed is a bed.) Grapes has the same cook and the same staff as the old restraunt at the Burtwood, but new limitations by corporate headquarters that obviously has not an inkling of what the clients need, and has no interest in learning. That said, the hotel itself, and its staff were wonderful. I missed the First Nation art that was in the halls. It was down due the rennovations associated with adding "Grapes". Being from the south, the price always causes sticker shock, but I know that the North has added expences in transport and heating. Compared with other accomodations in the area, the prices were reasonable and presented a good value. As always, the staff was wonderful. They really did go the extra mile for us, even when we were irate about the terrible food.
