Overview
The Detla Whistler Village Suites is an all-suite hotel in the middle of Whistler Village, above shopping, dining and nightlife establishments, four blocks from the lifts of Whistler/Blackcomb. The hotel's extended-stay amenities and suite options, like kitchens and in-suite laundry, attract those staying with larger groups or those looking to do their own cooking.

The hotel's 205 rooms and suites each come with free Wi-Fi, a full kitchen (suites) or kitchenette (standard rooms), a coffeemaker, a hair dryer and a separate sitting area. Suites also come with a balcony and a gas fireplace, bathrobes and a washer and dryer. Standard bedrooms have a queen bed and can sleep up to 2, while 1- and 2-bedroom suites have a selection of king, queen and/or twin beds plus a sofabed, accommodating from 4 to 6 guests. Some suites and rooms have mountain views.

Pets are allowed for an additional cost of $35 per night. Secure, underground self-parking is available for $24/day. Valet parking is $28/day. Secure bicycle parking is also available.

On-site amenities include a business centre, a health club, a heated outdoor pool with indoor access, three hot tubs (indoor and outdoor) and an on-site spa. The hotel is above retail outlets and a ski rental shop, and it's next to Hy's Steakhouse, which serves dinner daily. Garfinkel's nightclub is below the hotel. Additional dining and entertainment options are available on the same street as the hotel and throughout the Village.

The Whistler and Blackcomb gondolas are a 10-minute walk from the hotel, through Whistler Village. The Whistler Museum is across the street. The intercity bus depot (Greyhound, Snowbus, airport shuttles, etc.) is a 1-minute walk from the hotel. Scandinave Spa is a 5-minute drive outside of the Village. The Good
The reviews used for this analysis were generally positive and focused on the hotel's customer service, location and spacious suites.

The hotel's location was at the centre of many of the positive reviews. These guests liked being in the heart of Whistler Village, within a few minutes' walk of various dining, shopping and entertainment venues. One guest said, "This hotel has about as convenient a location as you could get for visiting the Village."

Other guests praised the customer service offered by the hotel's staff, one saying that "we got spoiled by the front desk staff." Guests reported friendly and professional service throughout their stay.

The size of the hotel's rooms and suites was a perk for many guests who appreciated the additional amenities in the suites (kitchen, dining space, laundry, etc.). They described their rooms as clean, comfortable and suitable for extended stays. As such, some guests described the hotel's offerings as being good value for the room rates, compared to other options in the Village.

Many guests also appreciated the hotel's pools and hot tubs, describing them as a nice refuge from the hustle and bustle of the Village.

The Bad
While most of the reviews used for this analysis were positive, there were a few common complaints raised among them.

Because the hotel is located on a busy pedestrian street, some guests complained about late-night noise from nearby establishments, especially from the nightclub below the hotel. Some also complained about noise from guests in neighbouring rooms and the hallways.

Some guests felt that the hotel was a bit lax in its upkeep of common areas during busy times. Guests reported mud and snow being dragged in by skiers and cyclists staying at the hotel, leaving the carpets dirty. Some guests also felt the pool and hot tubs were crowded during busy periods and that the elevators were too slow to keep up with the demand.

A few guests felt that the lighting in their room was inadequate and complained that their rooms felt dark and dim as a result.
