The Good
Guests were impressed with a number of different things at this hotel, including the general upkeep of the property and of the rooms, the friendliness of the staff and the extra touches, like the shuttle bus.

There were many comments from guests about the consistent level of cleaning done in the rooms and in the common areas. A few guests were repeat customers, who commented favourably about the level of detail in the cleaning, and about the maintenance of the property. One guest said that she frequently saw staff cleaning the grounds.

Several guests felt that the hotel represented excellent value for the price paid. Phrases like "good value for the money", "perfect for the price" and "reasonable rates" were reflective of the overall sentiment.

Staff at this hotel delivered excellent service, according to a number of guests. One guest said that the service she received "made her stay". Words like "helpful", "friendly" and "informative" were used frequently by guests to describe their staff impressions.

There were a few other amenities and options offered at the hotel that impressed guests. Many liked the convenience of having a free shuttle bus to the downtown Victoria area, especially as this hotel is a bit removed from the downtown core. Others enjoyed the pool and the convenience of the guest laundry.

There were a few other peripheral comments that centred on things like comfy beds and the TVs in the rooms.

The Bad
While most guest reviews were favourable, there were a few common themes among the complaints - specifically the dining options, the pub and the ice machine.

Noise was a factor for a number of guests, most of whom indicated that the on-site pub and adjacent car park were noisy, and that the noise often continued until late in the evening and the early morning hours. While the pub did serve dinner and lunch, several guests were disappointed that the on-site restaurant was open for breakfast only (these guests felt that nearby dining options were limited).

There was only one ice machine on site, according to a number of guests, which they found inconvenient. Some guests felt that the on-site parking was limited and that space was tight. In addition, a few guests were inconvenienced by the fact that this property does not have an elevator.

There were a few other peripheral complaints, centring on things like stale odours in the rooms and on the quality of the breakfast at the on-site restaurant.

"Heating units feel like emiting cold air when on, and the vent is not movable, so it blows air directly over the bed at nite, which can make sleeping cold. Definitely there should be an extra blanket stored in the room during the winter. other wise this hotel was a good value for the location and the rating. The pub was excellent, but the restaurant is sad looking, albeit service was promp. the food (breakfast) was of low quality, which is pretty hard to do for breakfast the health club/pool, was clean and spacious and a real "plus" to have access to workout after a full day of sight seeing. over all, an average hotel, with good value, but the quality of food and some small editions to the room could be helpful. thanks!"
