The real distinction between the rooms is where they are located; some are close to the bars or overlooking the patio. Others are set farther back in the hotel and tend to offer more peace and quiet.The hotel is non-smoking, and pets are not accepted. While there are several dining choices nearby the hotel, there are a variety of options for guests on site. A free continental breakfast is served daily from 7:30am-10:00am. Many of Victoria's popular attractions are located within walking distance from the hotel. The Inner Harbour, BC Whale Tours, the Maritime Museum of BC and the downtown area are all less than a 10 minute walk away. The hotel is around the corner from the Victoria Bug Zoo on Courtney Street. Butchart Gardens is slightly farther away, about a 12 minute drive. Guests travelling by air should budget about 28 minutes to travel the 26.3km between the hotel and the Victoria International Airport (YYJ) (distances and driving times estimates: Google Maps).

The GoodFor many guests of this hotel, the biggest draws were the price point and the convenience of being located within walking distance to many of Victoria's tourist attractions.
Guests frequently indicated that they felt that they received good value for the price they paid for the hotel, particulary because they felt that other neighbouring hotels were more expensive. Guests also commented a number of times on the convenience of the central location (particularly the hotel's close proximity to the harbourfront).
Staff got top marks from guests of this hotel, who used used phrases like "went out of their way to help" and "helpful with directions and information" to describe their impressions.
There were a handful of other positive comments, such as having access to parking and the quality of the food in the restaurants.
The Bad
Complaints from guests about this hotel mostly centred on things like noise, cleanliness of common areas and size of the rooms.
Noise was an issue mentioned by several guests, who were disturbed by street noise, by noise from guests in neighbouring rooms and by loud guests lingering in hallways. A few guests noted that it was frequently noisy in the late evening and early morning hours.
There were a few complaints about the cleanliness of common areas like the lobby and the elevators. Guests mentioned that the carpeting in the hallways and the elevators were thin and stained. Guests also felt that the common areas were dark.
Some guest reviewers felt that this hotel was dated, and in need of upgrades, particularly in regards to the furniture and decor in the rooms. Of the guests that commented negatively on the rooms, several noted that they were small.
