The Good
This hotel stood out as providing excellence in various ways. Guests felt the hotel delivered superior service in an excellent location with beautiful rooms.

Guests were given first-class treatment by the staff and for some guests, this was the best part of their stay. One guest said , "The staff were amazingly friendly, courteous and helpful." The bell staff was appreciated for providing information about restaurants and maps of the neighbourhood. "They helped me with everything from getting a room with a better view to taking a bike out, setting up whale watching, finding great restaurants, and navigating the city. I can't say enough about how great they were!"

Location was praised frequently by guests, who appreciated being able to access the waterfront and a number of restaurants and attractions within a short walk. Many felt it was the perfect location on a quiet street. One reviewer said, "The location of the hotel could not be better - steps from the water and close to everything."

Guests enjoyed the comfort and luxury of their rooms. They were described as beautiful, peaceful, quiet and very comfortable. One guest conveyed the sentiment well, "Our bed was very comfortable, linens beautiful, fireplace wonderful in the cool weather and bathrobes handy."

The recent addition of free bikes for use by guests to tour the city was popular with several reviewers. Others were pleased and thankful to have umbrellas for use when it rained, as well as hot tea available in the lobby and welcome snacks in the room. Wi-Fi received excellent scores from guests overall.

While a few guests enjoyed meals at the restaurant, it was not mentioned much in the reviews and there were also some complaints about it. (See below for more on this.)
The Bad
There was some negative feedback in the reviews by guests of the hotel.

Some rates include a continental breakfast, if booked with the hotel directly, and one guest felt it was very basic. There was also some confusion surrounding the free breakfast. One reviewer was told it was available for more hours than it actually was, and missed it, and another found the room somewhat disorganized with line ups, lengthy waits to be seated and to be served. Another complained of a rude server.

Some guests found the dining room lacking in appeal. One guest put it this way, "I wasn't too crazy about the dining room. While the service was pleasant and the food was good, I found the place dark and a bit shoddy."

There was the very occasional comment that there were no movie channels on offer with the cable provider at the hotel.

A few guests thought they were getting a harbour view, but it could only be seen through buildings that were in the foreground.
