BC Whale Tours, the Inner Harbour and the BC Maritime Museum are all about an 8 minute walk away. The Royal British Colombia Museum is slightly farther away, about an 11 minute walk. To get to Butchart Gardens, a car is most likely required, and travellers can expect about a 12 minute drive. Guests travelling by air can expect a 28 minute drive to travel the 26.3km between the hotel and Victoria International Airport (YYJ) (distances and estimated driving times: Google Maps).

The GoodThis hotel received wide praise from guest reviewers on a number of different counts.
One guest reviewer said that this hotel provided "great bang for your buck", because the hotel offered them a central location and a well-appointed room at a reasonable price.
Staff won top marks from several guests. Comments included that staff were "willing to go the extra mile" and provided "fantastic service". One guest said that staff were very helpful in providing information about area attractions and restaurants and claimed that a staff member printed out bus timetables for the guest.
Guests were also very pleased with the property itself, both because of its handy location to Victoria's major sites, and because it was "impeccably clean". Other phrases like "spotless" and "exceptionally clean" reflect the dominant guest impression.
There were a few mentions of other services that enhanced the quality of guest experience, like valet parking, however there was some contradiction on this opinion.
The Bad
While the hotel was recommended by most guests, there were a few common complaints, mostly regarding noise, the on-site restaurant and access to the valet parking.
There were a few complaints about noise from the street. One guest recommended that travellers stay on higher floors, especially on weekends, to be more removed from street noise. Another guest was on one of the hotel's two pet-friendly floors, and had a room next to a barking dog, which they found distracting.
While some liked the convenience of on-site dining, there were a few complaints about the restaurant regarding food, service and general ambience.
Also, most guests appreciated having valet parking on site, but for some, it was inconvenient. One guest had to wait over 20 minutes to get their car; another felt inconvenienced by having to request their car ahead of time.
There were a handful of other complaints about old decor and disappointing views from windows.
