Let's face it, most people travelling to the Okanagan Valley will gravitate towards Kelowna. It's not hard to see why, as Kelowna is really a beautiful place. However, if you do happen to find yourself in Vernon, you will be welcomed by a quaint and scenic city. Situated in the northern part of the Okanagan Valley, Vernon is the largest city in this northern region. Also, it is generally known as the commercial hub of the North Okanagan Regional District.
Things to do in Vernon
Vernon is surrounded by some beautiful, world-renowned golf courses, so pack your clubs if you can. Not into golf? No problem, there are literally hundreds of fishing lakes in and around the city to drop a line and maybe catch some lunch. Not into fishing? Well, there are lots of hiking and mountain biking trails to explore, that are actually expanding each year. Not into hiking and mountain biking? Geez, you're hard to please. Well, Vernon is home to many fruit farms and hosts some great farmer's markets to get some fresh, locally grown produce. Not into eating? I know you're lying now... Nevertheless, Vernon also hosts some interesting walking tours showcasing various historical sites and prominent figures of the past.

Being in the beautiful Okanagan Valley visitors are always near some of Canada's leading vineyards. It's quite easy to join a tour of one of these wineries if desired. In addition, there are many outdoor activities to keep yourself busy in one of Vernon's many lakes or parks. For those looking to do some additional travelling, Kelowna is only about 50km to the south, while Kamloops is 120km northwest.
