"Second time stay at the location. Basic but good. The kitchen could have been better stocked. Bathroom size is a bit awkward but manageable.
The pool and such is not the greatest though, but why go there when Vancouver is present."

"This was the best walking location in the area, just a short distance to all sights in the area. Management and staff were very accommodating and would cetainly stay there again. Funiture could stand updating, we called it "shappy shiek" , however the beds were very comfortable and that's what really counts."

"Older style hotel; but suite was spacious and clean. Better value for money than most places in Vancouver. Excellent proximity to shopping in Robson St."

"The customer service and location were the best aspects of this hotel. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The hotel looked in serious need of a good "lick of paint" and facelift. The windows were dirty, the lifts had seen better days - it looked rather uncared for. Having requested a quiet room, our room was extremely noisy, which was a problem as, with the windows closed, the room was far too hot, as there was no air conditioning. We therefore had to keep the windows open and put up with the tremendous noise. The bed however was extremely comfortable, and the kitchenette area proved really useful. I would recommend your hotel, but would warn people of the noise and general unkemptness."

"A revamp (especially colours of carpets and walls and better lighting) could make the hotel look much better value for money."

"Not Ritz, but neither is the cost. Do not stay if you want a perfect room and service. However for those on a budget who want to be in the heart of the action of Robson St. and be near everything, it will be hard to beat. I only stayed one night, but I wish I could have stayed longer. The Tropicana is better suited for an extended stay. It is a one bedroom suite (not a studio) with a kitchenet, which is perfect for a budget stay given the several small to medium markets and take out restaurants within a few blocks. Easy walk to Stanley Park or English Bay. If you are a strong walker like me, Granville Island or the Gas Light District are a few hours round trip including picture taking and window shopping. On a main busline, lots of taxis and shuttle buses. As for restaurants, name you flavor and it is with in a few blocks. Need a drugstore/drygood, an intenet cafe, money exchange or just about anything else it will be close. Since it is on Robson there will be street noise until late. The higher the floor, the lesser the noise and the better the view. Forgive them the look of the carpets and enjoy it as a base to fan out across all of downtown Vancouver."

"I like the Tropicana Inn because I've always been able to get a space there, even on the busiest summer weekends. It's in a good location and the price is pretty reasonable for what you get."
