Overview
This retro-inspired boutique hotel sits across from St. Paul's Hospital and is about a 5-minute walk from dining and shopping on either Davie or Robson Street.

The hotel offers 72 smoke-free rooms over 3 floors. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, free North American calling, a 42" flat screen HDTV with premium movie channels, a Nespresso coffeemaker, a mini-fridge, a desk, an iPod dock, a safe, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer and climate control.

Rooms are furnished with 2 double beds, 1 queen or 1 king bed. All rooms have access via an exterior corridor and elevator.

Parking is underground and costs $28 plus tax, per night with unlimited access and flexible hours on check-out day. Pets are welcome for $25 plus tax, per pet, per night.

Elysian Coffee is connected to the hotel lobby and offers breakfast and snacks.

Hotel amenities include a business centre (free printing and faxing), free Brodie cruiser bike rentals, free loaner umbrellas, a tropical courtyard with seating and a ping pong table, an elevator and a meeting room. The hotel also offers free day passes to Steve Nash Fitness Centre (a 14-minute walk away).

Boutique shopping and dining in Yaletown is 10 minutes away on foot, while Granville Island (farmers' market, arts and crafts boutiques and dining) is a 16-minute walk away. The rooms were very clean and had comfortable beds and well liked Nespresso machines. Guests liked the exterior corridors and views of the tropical courtyard from their rooms.

The location was very well liked for being close to good dining on Davie Street, the cruise terminal, the hospital, BC Place stadium and Stanley Park.

The staff were often described as upbeat, friendly and helpful.

The café on site was well liked for having good pastries and a quick tasty breakfast or snack.

Adding value to the stay were: free loaner bikes, the communal courtyard and free local and long distance calling.

The Bad
The hotel had its weaker side.

Room complaints included: weak shower pressure, small bathrooms, dim lighting, carpets that absorbed west coast humidity and inefficient and noisy heating and air conditioning units.

Some found the parking charges expensive and the spaces tight.

Noise complaints were quite common. Guests complained of hearing traffic or sirens from emergency vehicles going to the hospital across the street, music playing too early in the morning in the courtyard, clanking sounds from the elevator and conversations from neighbouring rooms.
