Overview
This hotel is situated in the dining and entertainment district of downtown Vancouver and is located within a 2-minute walk of the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Pacific Centre Mall. This property is ideal for both business travellers and tourists who prefer to explore the downtown area without the need for a car.

This hotel is 100% smoke free and offers 373 rooms and suites. All units include a flat-screen TV, bathrobes and slippers, a DVD/CD player, an iPod docking station, free newspapers, a safe, an iron and an ironing board, and a mini-bar. In-room Wi-Fi is available for an additional fee of $11.95 per 24 hours and in-room fax machines are available upon request.

On-site valet parking is available for $31 per night. Pets are not permitted.

The on-site YEW Restaurant and Bar serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast service begins daily at 6:30am. 24-hour room service is also available.

Recreational facilities include a fitness centre, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, and a sauna. Other on-site amenities include a 24-hour business centre with secretarial services, a jewellery boutique, a spa, a hair salon, meeting and banquet space, concierge and porter services, shoe shine and dry cleaning (extra fees apply), currency exchange, luggage storage, and safe deposit boxes.  

The Queen Elizabeth Theatre (performing arts venue) is a 9-minute walk from this hotel, while the Vancouver harbourfront area (featuring the Vancouver Convention Centre, cruise ship terminal, and Seawall trail system) is 8 minutes away on foot (4-minute drive). The B.C. Place Stadium (home of the CFL's B.C. Lions) and Rogers Arena (home of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks) are both about a 10-minute walk away (3-minute drive).

The Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is about 30 minutes away by car (walking and driving time estimates: Google Maps).

The Good
Positive reviews for this hotel greatly outnumbered negative reviews, among the reviews used for this analysis, and most reviewers complimented the customer service. The staff throughout the hotel were described as professional, accommodating, knowledgeable, efficient, and eager to help. One guest said that she was impressed when the concierge staff were able to secure "last-minute reservations for an in-demand downtown restaurant".

Many guests found the location convenient for walking to downtown attractions, shopping areas, restaurants, and the harbourfront area.

Many reviewers said their rooms were clean and one guest described his room as "spotless". Many guests described their beds as comfortable and a few reviewers thought that their rooms were well-appointed with luxurious decor. A couple of reviewers described their rooms as quiet and one guest specifically mentioned having a pleasant view from her room.

Several guests said the atmosphere of the pool and fitness centre areas were relaxing and one reviewer mentioned that flavoured water was made available for guests.

A few reviewers praised the high food quality and attentive wait-staff at the on-site restaurant.

A few guests complained about the additional fee for Wi-Fi ($11.95 per 24 hours). Reviewers also complained about additional fee for local calls ($1.50 per call) and additional fee for parking ($31 per night).

A few guests thought that the configuration of the lobby was awkward and inconvenient for accessing the elevators. These guests described a two-floor lobby with escalators leading to the second floor, where the elevators were located.

A couple of reviewers described their guest bathrooms as small and one guest described the bathroom plumbing as loud.
