This hotel is situated about an 8-minute drive south of downtown Vancouver in an area called Mount Pleasant, which features heritage buildings amid cafes and restaurants. Adjacent to quiet, tree-lined streets and handy to public transit, this property is suitable for travellers that prefer a hotel that is outside of the noisier downtown core, but still easily accessed by car or public transit.

This hotel is smoke free and pet free, and all units include air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, free local calls, cable TV, a coffeemaker, a desk with ergonomic chair, a hair dryer, an iron and ironing board. Select rooms may also include a 2-person jacuzzi, a microwave and a mini-fridge. 

A free hot breakfast is served daily from 6:30 am - 10:30 am. The on-site restaurant, Italia Bella Bar & Grill featuring live entertainment, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In-room dining is available from 7 am - 9 pm. Free juice and coffee and tea are available all day in the lobby.

On-site amenities include free underground parking (limited spaces), a fitness solarium, courtyard (smoking allowed). safe deposit boxes, same-day dry cleaning (extra fees apply), ice and vending machines, free newspapers, and copy and fax services (extra fees may apply).

Downtown attractions, such as the Vancouver Lookout (observation tower with viewing deck 550 feet above ground), Vancouver Art Gallery, and the shopping and entertainment district (on Granville Street), are all about an 8- to 10-minute drive from this hotel. B.C. Place Stadium (home of the CFL's B.C. Lions) and Rogers Arena (home of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks and concert venue) are 7 minutes away by car. Stanley Park (1,000-acre park with Seawall hiking and biking trails and home to the Vancouver Aquarium) is about a 14-minute drive away.

The Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is a 25-minute drive from this hotel, while the Vancouver VIA Rail and Greyhound bus stations are 5 minutes away by car (driving time estimates: Google Maps).

The Good
This hotel was well liked by many guests who reviewed the service and property in recent reviews read for this report. Although the property is 15 years old and has seen many guests, the hotel is a friendly and comfortable hotel with free amenities that are not readily available for guests staying right downtown.

Many guests appreciated the friendly atmosphere and value provided by the hotel and although the furnishings were dated, guests agreed that the hotel was both clean and well maintained. (It is also receiving ongoing renovations that will be completed in 2016.) Free parking, free Wi-Fi, and free breakfast were all see as adding value to the stay.

Besides clean and well-maintained, guests found the rooms well-appointed and quiet, and the beds comfortable.

Staff were praised for being knowledgeable, courteous and helpful.

Reviewers found the location of this hotel convenient for accessing Vancouver attractions by car, including beaches, Granville Island, and the Vancouver International Airport. A few guests noted that there was a grocery store across the street from the hotel and several restaurants nearby.

The quality of the food at the free breakfast which included pastries, breads, waffles, bacon, sausages, omelets, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee and juice and the room service food quality was complimented by several guests.
The Bad
The most common complaint for this hotel found in the reviews read for this report, was that the parking lot was small and awkwardly shaped, making it a bit tight to navigate with larger vehicles.

A few reviewers found the breakfast area to be small and crowded.

A couple of reviewers said the hotel's decor was a little tired.
