Overview
Located 5 km and at least an 8-minute drive from Vancouver International Airport (YVR), the Sandman Hotel Vancouver Airport is popular with travellers who require an overnight stay close to the airport.

This smoke-free hotel has 177 guest rooms, each offering free Wi-Fi, a flat screen TV with cable and pay-per-view movies, a coffeemaker, data ports, a desk, a hair dryer, and climate control. Rooms are furnished with 2 double beds, 1 queen bed or 1 king bed. Room extras include a sofabed, a mini-kitchen (mini-fridge, microwave, sink), a kitchenette (stove top, mini-fridge, microwave, sink), loft with king bed, a second TV, a dining table, a living room and free wired Internet. Accessible rooms are available.

Free outdoor parking is available on site. A free 24-hour airport shuttle is offered to guests along with a check-in kiosk at YVR. Pets are welcomed for $10 per pet, per night.

On-site dining is available at Moxie's Classic Grille and Lounge, which is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room service is available.

The hotel also offers an indoor pool, a hot tub, a fitness centre, a 24-hour business centre, an elevator and meeting rooms. 

The Sandman Hotel Vancouver Airport is a 24-minute drive from Vancouver's city centre, or 35 minutes by public transit (includes bus and Skytrain), with a 5-minute walk to the bus stop. The Lansdowne Centre for shopping can be reached in 9 minutes by car. (All  travel time estimates: Google Maps)

The Good
Many guests appreciated this hotel for accessing the airport, which was very near by.

It provided a free airport shuttle which many found prompt, it offered renovated and clean rooms, had friendly staff, and it had a great restaurant on site, everything one would need for an overnight stay.

Many felt the hotel provided good value. Some mentioned the park and fly options, where guests were able to leave their car at the hotel while they travelled onward. Others liked having a pool, hot tub and restaurant on site. And other guests liked having free parking at the hotel, or free transportation to and from the airport.

Other bonuses according to guests were the hotel's comfortable beds, high quality complimentary toiletries, plus secure and fast wired Internet (still available in some rooms), and kitchenettes (in select rooms).

The Bad
Sometimes the hotel did not live up to expectations and guests complained.

Occasionally the front desk was understaffed and guests found the check-ins and check-outs to take up too much of their time.

During some guests stays, the shuttle was late and arrived full, although this seemed to be out of the ordinary.

Some guests found their bathrooms or rooms were still dated and needed better cleaning or better maintenance. Complaints included: noisy and ineffective AC units, musty smell from the bathroom, old grey towels, old shower curtains, bathroom tiles needed regrouting, plugged bathtub drain, phone keypad sticking, and loose wires on telephone.

Some hotel amenities needed attention: a noisy ice machine, a cloudy pool, and pool tile grouting was old and black which needed cleaning or replacing.

Some guests complained of noise disturbance which came from the street, and other guests and dogs in nearby rooms.
