Overview
Located on Westminster Highway, about a 10-minute drive from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and a 3-minute drive from Richmond's city centre, the Quality Hotel Airport South is suitable for road or air travellers who require a centrally-located budget hotel with easy highway access, a free airport shuttle and a free continental breakfast.

This hotel has 70 air-conditioned and smoke-free guest rooms, each offering free Wi-Fi, free local calls, a 25" cable TV, a coffeemaker, a desk, a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board. Room extras include a mini-fridge and guests are welcome to use the microwave in the lobby. Rooms are furnished with 1 or 2 queen beds or 1 or 2 king beds. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available upon request. 

Free secured underground parking is available and the hotel supplies a free 24-hour airport shuttle service which operates on request. Pets are allowed for $25 per night.

A free continental breakfast with hot choices is offered to all guests. There are restaurants in walking distance with the closest ones being the Ceili Modern Irish Pub across the street and the Mad Greek Restaurant next door.

Hotel amenities include meeting/banquet space, a business centre and guest laundry facilities.

Access to public transportation is less than a 1-minute walk from the hotel, while shopping can be found 4 minutes away by car or a 13-minute walk, at Richmond Centre Mall. Downtown Vancouver attractions are about a 24-minute drive away. Richmond Hospital is a 4-minute walk southwest, and Richmond Olympic Oval is roughly a 12-minute walk northwest of the hotel. The Good
Many of this hotel's guests had pleasant experiences here and liked the staff, cleanliness and location. The free 24-hour efficient airport shuttle service and free breakfast with hot items added value to guests' stays.

Numerous guests were pleased with the hotel's location, and found it to be close to good restaurants, large mall shopping, the Skytrain, the airport and the train. A few guests mentioned that there is a park with sport infrastructures nearby and some liked the park for its beauty. Guests named good places to eat such as the food court at the mall, Asian restaurants nearby and the Ceili pub, across the street.

The hotel's value was noted by many who also made return visits. They described the rates as inexpensive, citing the free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, free parking and free airport shuttle as adding value to an already reasonably-priced stay.

Many said they were pleasantly surprised to find the hotel so clean, comfortable and well kept for the price charged. More than one guest found comfortable beds. Some said that the hotel had renovated, the rooms were large and had everything one needed.

Guests liked the staff and except for the odd hiccup in the service, they were seen as friendly and kind. One guest said when describing the service of one front desk agent, "He gave us directions, taught us about sites and attractions, and provided an overall great guest experience."

Many of the reviewers who wrote about the breakfast, found it satisfying and rated it as decent, good or very good in quality. Those who commented on Wi-Fi said it was appreciated and worked well. 

One guest who used this hotel to access the airport for an early flight summed up his experience of this hotel and seemed to carry the sentiment of other guests, when he said "I got to the airport on time, well fed and well rested."

The Bad
Complaints were not as frequent as the praise, by far, and were somewhat scattered in the reviews with guests quibbling about this and that--little minor irritations that were not really representative of guest sentiment overall.

Sometimes guests complained about a lack of easily accessible electrical outlets on the desk and one guest was disappointed that the hotel had already renovated and had not planned for the modern young traveller's need to charge iPhones and iPads with more electrical outlets near to the desk.

Other more isolated or one-time complaints included: no in-room safe, the closet was not full length but had two drawers below making it shorter to hang coats or pants; one guest was displeased with the room he got which he said was small and located underneath the stairwell (201 or 301); another guest was upset that there was a hold of $150 on his card, the ice machine was only available on the 3rd floor which was inconvenient, and the breakfast room was too small.

"My room was clean and roomy and daily room clean up efficient. Breakfast feature is good and the area was well managed. I will use this hotel again if I am in this area. This is not a five star hotel but good for what it is rated."

"The room I was in it was nosey at night due to traffic and the room needs to be redone like the t.v should be a flat screen cause all hotels have them now, it just looks better, and the blankets need to be better those fluffly new blankets. Over all the room needs to be updated. But the bathroom was fine it could just stay the same, just the rest needs a little up date. Also the fridge is good to have in the room. I also think the tables and chairs downstairs where you eat breakfast need to be updated just so it's more comfortable and inviting."

"Gym is off-premises. Gave me a street level room (you can wave to the pedestrains on Westminster Highway) and claimed that they were fully booked for the night. Breakfast area is tiny and food selection is limited. Needed to borrow a USB mouse for an hour (if I don't keep my word to return it on time, they can always charge against the $150) but claimed that they don't have one. Forced me to walk blocks to buy a USB mouse at a drugstore. La Quinta is in the same price range and my experience was far superior."

"What is good / what is bad?"

"A good hotel to stay a few nights in, if you are visiting the city and have things to do around town. A good place to be "at home, away from home". Clean, in good repair, but some rooms a bit noisy (the ones facing the street). Free parking and breakfast were appreciated. But don't count with entertainment, and other spectacular in-house amenities (shopping, lounge, restaurant, which anyways are out on the street in walking distance)."

"We stayed at this hotel a short time because we were in transit to Tokyo.We chose this hotel because they have a shuttle transportation from/to the airport- hotel.BUT we never were told that shuttle service has a fix schedule.So we arrived at Vancouver from Seattle by bus at 8.30pm and we found that there was no more shuttle service.We took a taxio and the driver misunderstood (??) the name of the hotel and took us to another Quality.It was 20 C$D.From there ,and thanks to the manager´┐Żs help, we had to call another taxi:18 C$D more."
