Overview
Located a 7-minute drive from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and just west of Highway 99, the Holiday Inn Express Vancouver Airport is popular with business and vacation travellers requiring a layover stay with added conveniences such as a free airport shuttle and free breakfast.

This 100% non-smoking hotel has 107 air-conditioned guest rooms, all of which offer free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, a coffeemaker, a hair dryer, a desk, and an iron and ironing board. Standard rooms come with two queen beds or one king bed. Executive rooms also feature a microwave and mini-fridge, while suites also include a fireplace and sofabed.

The hotel offers a business centre, a fitness centre, guest laundry, and a free 24-hour airport shuttle. Accessible rooms are available upon request, and gated parking is $8 per day. Pets are permitted for $20 per pet per day.

The Holiday Inn Express Vancouver Airport serves a free buffet breakfast to all guests, which includes eggs, bacon, sausages, baked goods, cereals, yogurt, juices, fruit, milk, coffee, and tea. Other nearby restaurants include Abercorn Inn Restaurant (across the street) and Manzo Japanese Restaurant (an 8-minute walk south).

The Good
The majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive with much praise going to the hotel's location, staff, and breakfast.

Most guests were pleased with the hotel's location. They described it as close to Vancouver International Airport, River Rock Casino (3-minute drive), a SkyTrain Station (7-minute walk) and downtown Vancouver (23-minute drive).

Several reviewers complimented the staff at this hotel and characterized them as friendly, efficient and helpful. When describing their experience, one guest said the staff "went out of their way to make sure that all our needs and questions were met."

Many lodgers were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the included breakfast, stating that it was better than the standard continental breakfast provided at most hotels. They mentioned it was filling, that there was lots of variety including several hot and cold items, and that the breakfast room was nice and comfortable.

The Bad
While most of the reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were a couple common complaints among them about noise transfer and parking.

Some guests complained about noise transfer within the hotel. They described noise coming from air conditioning units, other guests in adjacent rooms, trucks making deliveries at the Costco across the street, and from the plumbing in adjacent rooms.

A few guests had issues with the parking and complained that the spots were somewhat limited. Guests need to be checked in at the hotel before gaining access to the gated parking, which some found inconvenient.

"Excellent hotel experience."
"I arrived early and my room was available. It was everything a hotel room should be; attractive, very clean and most accommodating. The service at the front desk was pleasantly thorough and receptionist was knowledgeable and helpful. Later in the evening receptionist was pleasant and helpful in supplying alternate arrangements. Overall, an excellent experience. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend this hotel."

"Some admin policies extremly poor while service-A1"
"What is bad is that prebooking a room 2 months in advance ends up costing you more than walking in off the street and booking the same room for an extra night. The prebooking to save dollars on room cost policy is a farce. Service excellent as is location and cleanliness."
