The Good
Many guests enjoyed their stays at this hotel. They found it conveniently located, luxurious and well run with accommodating staff. Some thought it was the perfect place for a day business meeting or for meeting up with family.

Guest typically loved the location of this hotel. They described it as being attached to the airport and ideal for a layover stop or an early morning flight. Domestic, USA and international terminals could be accessed within a 4-minute walk from the hotel, without the need for outerwear. The SkyTrain access on site, also made the hotel conveniently located for reaching downtown Vancouver.

Guests enjoyed runway views from the rooms and could see planes taking off and landing. Higher floors revealed the ocean and surrounding mountains. Guests were often impressed with how quiet the hotel was, and many enjoyed peaceful rests in comfortable beds and clean, spacious rooms.

Many guests found staff to be accommodating and friendly.

The Bad
Although the hotel usually received full marks from reviewers, there was some negative feedback found online.

Some guests felt the hotel was overpriced with high room rates. Also when guests complained of a less than 5-star experience in their rooms, it seems that staff were often unresponsive or gave a token compensation--and not the first class service expected of a 5-star hotel.

Many were disappointed to be hit with extra charges like Wi-Fi, bottled water and snack items stocked in the mini-bar. Guests felt inconvenienced to be charged for these snacks if they were moved or handled unintentionally. Many resorted to using the airport Wi-Fi, just outside the lobby for free.

Sometimes guests complained of rooms that were somewhat dated and in need of maintenance. Some specific issues mentioned recently were: a horrible bed, a broken phone in the room, peeling wallpaper, a cracked sink, stained carpets, shattered bathroom tiles, scratched and chipped furniture, a threadbare chair, room smelled stale, a jetted tub did not work, chipped walls, lamps flickered, stained curtains, torn carpet, room cold and thermostat difficult, room needs better lighting, banging sounds from the heater, and mattresses sunken in the middle.

Occasionally, guests found cleanliness inconsistencies including dusty surfaces, a dirty bathroom floor and tub, and rooms that were not thoroughly vacuumed. One guest with allergies complained of a strong smell of perfumed air issuing from the hotel's air vents (although the manager responding to the review said they have stopped this practice).

Some guests were upset about the design of the in-room bathrooms, as they claimed that it prevented the proper privacy for using the facilities. Both couples and friend groups that were travelling together complained of louvered doors that did not insulate bathroom activities from the rest of the guest room. Also a shuttered window between the bedroom area and the bathroom did not fully block light at nighttime and cover those showering.

Some were not all that impressed with the indoor pool. Complaints found were: very small, too shallow, too cold, the deck too slippery, the room was stuffy, and an uninspiring view of those checking into the airport.
