The GoodThe majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive with much praise going to the hotel's location, staff, and value.
Most guests were pleased with the location of this hotel. They described it as close to the airport, with easy access to Cambie St. and Highway 99. It was also mentioned that the location was easy to find when coming from the airport, and that there were late-night food options nearby for late arrivers.
The staff received compliments from several reviewers, who characterized them as efficient, friendly, helpful, and energetic. These guests reported that the staff answered all their questions, and also printed out driving instructions for them.
Many lodgers found the hotel to be of good value for the price. They mentioned the free airport shuttle as adding to the value, and one guest described the hotel as being, "everything you need without breaking the bank". It should be noted, however, that a few guests felt the price should have included a complimentary breakfast.
The Bad
While most of the reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were a few common complaints among them about the rooms and noise transfer.
Some guests had complaints that their rooms needed updating. They described old and worn carpet, bed sheets and towels, and felt the air-conditioning units and refrigerators needed replacing. A few guests who had kitchenettes made mention of there being no pots, pans or utensils for cooking.
A few reviewers had issues with noise during their stay. They reported hearing noise from their neighbours' rooms and balconies, traffic noise when staying on the bottom floor facing the road, and airplane noise overhead. It should be mentioned, however, that most guests found the hotel quiet overall considering its proximity to the airport.

"Okay for the price - nothing special. Kind of noisy."
"On the plus side, this is one of the less-expensive hotels in Richmond. The room was spacious and they provided plenty of extra pillows and blankets. Everything else was fairly standard.
On the minus side, the room smelled a little funky. The sheets were clean but I did notice a small (old) stain - I'd rather they retire sheets rather than reuse them once they're stained. The other thing we didn't care for was the noise from the walkways at night and in the early morning. This is motel style with outside doors and there were several guests walking by chatting loudly after we went to bed and before we got up. Construction on part of the building added to the noise."

"Safety issue"
"Someone unlocked our room door at midnight while we were asleep. Lucky for us we had a lock jamming device or they would have been able to walk right in."

"There was a powerful odor on entering the room - probably the cleaning agent but not pleasant. Noticeable accumulation of dust on the back of the sofa. Very noisy facing the highway. On check out, I noticed we were charged for kitchen use - the locked cupboard was never unlocked so we didn't use anything other than the coffee pot - the charge was corrected when I questioned it. On the first night due to a full house, there was no parking space for us - we parked along the curb but in cases like this, why could not some arrangement be made with IHOP? The desk staff was efficient. In the office, you might consider using artificial flower arrangements - dead flowers do not enhance any decor."

"The room was a non-smoking room, however, it reaked of smoke.
A playpen was provided but there was no pad for her to sleep on just some sheets. I put her to sleep in the bed instead as the bottom of the playpen is much to hard.
A full bathroom would have been good instead of the split.
My baby (21 mths) & I arrived late + add the 3 hour time change-was almost 2am our time - did not want to complain and keep her up later by changing rooms.
I was up early next morning to get ready and packed and since I wanted her to have as much sleep as possible, found I was unable to wash up, dry hair etc. as sink and mirror was in the hall outside of bedroom which had no door.
The shuttle service to and from the airport was very convenient and appreciated."

"Great motel to stay. We travelled through Canada for 6 weeks staying at so many places and were sorry this was the first Accent Inn as everything was perfect. Staff went out of their way to be helpful.
We were so tired as we were on our way back to Australia so basically got from the airport and back the next day. The shuttle bus driver was the same both days and he was also full of humour and lovely. Free internet which is great for travellers. Lovely warm inviting reception area with staff smiling and not superficial.
Would recommend this motel to anyone and this won't be the last Accent Inn we will be staying at.
Barbara and Leigh from Gladstone, Queensland, Australia."

"The hotel is convenient in that it is fairly close to the airport however, it is not particularly close to the attractions or shopping. The free shuttle service to the airport is very useful, as is the laundry room. The bedroom itself was very dark and the beds were uncomfortable, especially the sofa bed. My advice to families with children who are old enough to do so is to book two rooms and ask for them to be next-door to each other. Ground floor rooms are also noisy as people who walk past or vehicles outside can be heard easily. The IHOP restaurant right next-door was useful as we did not have to go searching for dinner! All-in-all, not a bad hotel if you're looking for a place to put your head down for the night."

"It was great. Our only problem was allergies because of the strong cleansing products used. It's so hard to get an even balance."

"Very comfortable, and accessible to Highway 99, Richmond shopping, downtown Vancouver, the airport, and the Canada-US Border. The office staff are always bright, understanding, helpful and informed. The public computer in the foyer allowed me to access my home base email in New Jersey several times a day. Great stuff!"
