Sandman Hotel Quesnel is located in a commercial and retail area, just off Highway 97, about an 8-minute drive from the downtown core. This hotel is easy to find and popular with guests that want a pet-friendly stopover hotel, or those wanting a reasonably-priced hotel with a restaurant and indoor pool that is just off the highway.

This hotel offers 106 rooms over four floors and both smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. Common room amenities include free Wi-Fi, free local calls, a 27" TV with cable and pay-per-view movies, a coffeemaker, a table and two arm chairs, a hair dryer, black out curtains, windows that open and air conditioning. Rooms are furnished with 2 double beds, 1 queen bed or 1 king bed. Room extras include a sofabed, a second TV, a mini-kitchen (mini-fridge, microwave, sink with counter, dishware) dining table and 4 chairs, a desk with ergonomic chair, an iron and ironing board, a steam shower, a double jacuzzi and a separate bedroom and living room. Irons and ironing boards are also available on request.

Free outdoor parking is available on site. Pets are allowed for an additional $10 per night with a maximum of 2 pets per room.

Denny's 24 Hour Restaurant and Shark Club Bar and Grill are on site and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room service is also available.

Amenities at this hotel include an indoor pool, a hot tub, a fitness centre, a 24-hour business centre, free newspapers, an elevator and meeting and conference facilities. 

There is a mall, a Walmart and some shops and restaurants within 4 minutes' walking distance. The downtown core, Quesnel and District Twin Arenas and West Park Mall are each about an 8-minute drive away. The shores of Dragon Lake can be reached in about 4-minutes by car while Troll Resort is about a 50-minute drive away. Quesnel Airport (YQZ) can be reached in 15 minutes by car and Prince George Airport (YXS) is a 1.5 hour drive from the hotel. (All distances and travel time estimates: Google Maps)

The Good
The majority of reviews used for this analysis were positive and focused on the rooms, the staff and the location.

Although there were many complaints that the hotel was dated and aspects of the rooms needed upgrading, many guests did think that the rooms were clean and comfortable.

The staff were complimented by many guests for being friendly and accommodating, although there were a few complaints about them as well (see below for more on this).

Several guests appreciated that the hotel was near to shops, restaurants, a gas station and a Walmart. Several mentioned it was easy to run out and grab something (i.e. food or supplies) if needed.

Many guests liked that there were two restaurants on site and guests often said that both had good food and service.
The Bad
Although the majority of reviews used for this analysis were positive, guests complained about a few areas that they found lacking at the hotel.

Many guests felt that the hotel was a bit worn and starting to show its age. Guests pointed to cracked bathroom tiles, rusted sinks, mouldy baths and windows, and occasionally guests mentioned a musty smell in rooms or in the pool area. More than one guest complained of uncomfortable beds, and there were some complaints that the rooms needing better cleaning. Several guests were unhappy to have rooms without a mini-fridge.

Occasionally the reviewers complained about staff that were less than helpful or even rude at the front desk. 

Many guests suggested getting a room at the back of the hotel, away from the highway, as front-facing rooms were considered to be somewhat noisy to some, but not all guests.
