This friendly downtown hotel is undergoing renovations and offers some newly renovated rooms. It's also located just off the Yellowhead Hwy and near the Rupert Square Shopping Centre, which offers retail shopping, a drug store, restaurants and a movie theatre, a 2-minute walk away.
All 88 rooms are smoke free and include free Wi-Fi, free wired Internet, free local calls, a TV, a coffeemaker, a work desk, an iron and ironing board and individual climate control. Rooms are furnished with 2 double beds, 1 queen bed or 1 king bed. Room extras include one or two flat screen TVs, a sofabed, a separate bedroom, a fireplace, a DVD player, a mini-fridge, a microwave and a kitchenette (2-burner stovetop, sink with counter, mini-fridge, microwave).
Free outdoor parking is available on site. Pets are permitted for an additional fee of $25 per night. Guests travelling with Air Canada can obtain a free shuttle to the Prince Rupert Airport (YPR) at this hotel (which includes a ferry ride to Digby Island where the airport is located). The trip to the airport will take about 45 minutes.
A free continental breakfast with hot choices is served weekdays from 6 am to 9 am and weekends from 7 am to 10 am. A Tim Hortons is across the street.
Other on-site amenities include a 24-hour front desk, free passes to a local fitness centre, dry cleaning, fax and photocopy services, safety deposit box, ice/vending machines, luggage storage, and meeting rooms. An on-site beer and wine store is open from 9 am to 11 pm daily.
The waterfront boardwalk is a 10-minute walk from this hotel. The boutique shopping district in Cow Bay is a 13-minute walk away. The Northland cruise ship terminal is 4 minutes away by car (or a 13-minute walk) and the B.C. Ferry and Alaska Ferry terminals are both a 5-minute drive away. Many reviewers described their rooms as clean and well maintained. The hotel has been and continues to renovate and although some of the rooms were not as yet renovated, guests still seemed to appreciate them as clean and comfortable.
Many guests praised the staff of this hotel. They were frequently complimented for being very friendly, efficient and helpful.
Guests typically enjoyed the free breakfast. It was described as having make-your-own waffles and other quality offerings.
With regard to the location, guests felt it was handy to the ferry terminal, shopping, restaurants, Tim Hortons across the street and a laundromat, also across the street.

Occasionally guests complained about the parking lot. Complaints included that it was not paved, had potholes, sometimes lacked enough spaces, was dimly lit especially for early morning departures and had unsavoury characters digging though garbage bins giving it an unsafe feel.
Guests who stayed in non-renovated (and pet-friendly) rooms remarked on their age, although they still found them clean and comfortable.
A couple of reviewers were disappointed to not have black-out blinds in their rooms as this allowed the bright sun in to early, disturbing their sleep.
