The family-friendly Travelodge is my pick for best value in the budget hotel category in Nanaimo. This is a basic hotel that offers good rates with included Wi-Fi, parking and a deluxe continental breakfast, bringing the rate down even further. As far as cheaper hotels in Nanaimo with good guest ratings, the Travelodge comes out on top. Guests liked the very clean rooms with modern furniture, new linens and updated bathrooms, very friendly staff who were extremely helpful, and the central location of the hotel. Other highlights were the breakfast with lots of variety, comfy beds, and nice TVs with great channel selection. Rooms were renovated in the spring of 2013 to include granite counter tops in the bathrooms, new bed linens, new pillow top mattresses and new furniture. All rooms come with flat screen TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges and balconies. There is a sauna, business centre and guest laundry on site.
