The Good
There was a mixture of guest opinion regarding the hotel in the recent reviews read for this editorial, with scores in the average to slightly above average range.

Guests who liked the hotel usually found the hotel to provide a decent room for a decent price. They mentioned things like having a fridge in the room and the rooms being clean and comfortable. Guests seemed to appreciate having the basics covered. There was also some mention of new carpets, beds and pillows.

The outdoor pool added value to guests travelling with children and they conveyed their satisfaction.

The location was a definite plus, close to the highway, restaurants, a Tim Hortons, a gas station and a convenience store.

Usually guests found the staff friendly and helpful and some guests were pleased that the hotel had covered parking which helped when raining outside.
The Bad
Guests who had issues with their stay usually spoke of poor maintenance: broken appliances, furniture and fixtures. It seems that broken appliances and other amenities were not replaced or fixed and rooms were rented out without these being fixed or replaced. More than one guest complained about there being no toilet paper holders and the roll just sitting on the bathtub edge, no screens on the windows and AC units that didn't work. Other complaints along this issue included: a shower faucet not working, a microwave and mini-fridge not working, a toilet handle broken, a broken lazy boy chair, a treadmill not working, a broken window that would not close, a toilet out of order, a leaking ceiling, a phone not working and non-functioning vending machines.

One very disappointed guest reserved a king suite with a jacuzzi and fireplace for a special time away with her husband, only to be given a room with "a run down kitchen and a queen bed". She said the faucet fell off when using the bathroom sink as well, and the staff did not rectify the issue of her having been given the wrong room.

Others mentioned mould on the bathroom tiles, musty odour and areas that they felt should have been better cleaned before offering the room for rent. A few guests found hair in their supposedly washed sheets and dusty areas along the edges of the room or garbage not emptied.

Although some guests liked the breakfast, occasionally a guest would complain about the breakfast being too basic, the hotel running out of food items or the closing time being too early at 9 am.

A lack of an elevator was a problem for some guests, who found no help in dragging their luggage to the second floor up the stairs.
