Overview
Located next to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and about a 15-minute drive from the nearest Trans-Canada Highway on-ramp, the Highland Lodge & Spa is geared towards road travellers who prefer a hotel with ski-to-door facilities, on-site dining and a spa and wellness centre near the highway. 

Each of this smoke-free hotel's guest rooms comes equipped with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, a DVD player, a balcony, a bathrobe and slippers for each guest and a hair dryer. Rooms with a jetted tub and a desk are also available, as are wheelchair-accessible rooms. 

The hotel also provides hostel accommodations (four beds for women and four for men), which include coffee, a cold breakfast, a community kitchen, a dining area and a living area with satellite TV. 

Pets are not permitted. Hotel amenities include an outdoor hot tub, a sauna, a spa and wellness centre, a games room, equipment storage, meeting space, free parking, ski-to-door access, a free breakfast and on-site dining at the Kicking Horse Saloon, which serves dinner and appetizers daily.

The Good
The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with much praise going to the hotel's staff, rooms and restaurant.

The hotel's staff were the source of many compliments by guests, who found them friendly, helpful, efficient and accommodating. One patron remarked, "We felt so comfortable from the moment we arrived – check-in was fast and we received a helpful, friendly tour of the lodge on arrival. We had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay".

Numerous reviewers were pleased with the hotel's accommodations. They described their rooms as clean, spacious, beautiful and quiet, with comfortable beds and linens and great mountain views. A few lodgers had complaints about their rooms, however (see below).

The hotel's restaurant was praised by several travellers, who described it as tasty and delicious, with a wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff. One guest noted, "The rustic pub is right next door and could be located in Austria or Switzerland. The ribs were outstanding, great beer, and the atmosphere was perfect for apres ski".
