OverviewThe Coast Edmonton East Hotel is located on the east side of Premier Way just to the north of Prairie Drive in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Access to the Yellowhead Highway (#16) is about 1.2km north of the property and connects to Edmonton, Jasper, and British Columbia. Millennium Place, a large recreation centre in Sherwood Park with skating and swimming, is attached to the property (distances - Google Maps).
Facilities at the hotel include meeting rooms, ballrooms, banquet rooms, fitness facilities, a business centre, free parking, and on-site dining. There are 258 guest rooms at the pet friendly hotel and they are divided into Comfort Rooms, Superior Rooms, Premium Rooms, or suites.
There is significant variance on what rooms offer but Comfort Rooms, the most basic room at the hotel, have either one queen, one king, or two queens. Other amenities in that category include televisions, work desks, fridges, hair dryers, irons, ironing boards, and air conditioning. Comfort Rooms also offer free high speed Internet and free local calls.
Importantly all upgraded rooms and suites have at least the same amenities that Comfort Rooms offer. The hotel also offers complimentary hot breakfast but only on weekdays.
Check in time is 4pm while check out time is 11am.
The GoodGuests who stayed at the Coast Edmonton East Hotel had mixed opinions about the property. Guests that were impressed with the hotel often thought that the hotel was aesthetically pleasing while others appreciated the property's location.
The guests who liked the look of the hotel were often impressed by the entrance to the property. One guest called it "elegant," another guest called it "grand," while many indicated that they thought it was nice.
The location of the hotel was well-liked by guests who wanted to be near Millennium Place, a sports facility very close to the hotel. These guests were often parents of children who were members of sports teams that were competing at the sports complex in various tournaments.
Some guests said that the hotel was clean while others mentioned that it was quiet. In fact, multiple guests were somewhat surprised at how quiet the hotel was given that the property was popular with young sports teams - groups that are somewhat notorious for noise in hotels.
The Bad
There were many guests who disliked aspects of the Coast Edmonton East Hotel for varying reasons.
For example, some guests thought the rooms seemed old or "tired." Other guests didn't like that breakfast was only free during the week and not on the weekends.
The jury remained out on the question of value as there was balance of opinion on whether the hotel offered reasonable rates. The guests who indicated or implied that they did not like the value they received for the price they paid sometimes suggested that this Coast hotel was below company standards.
One guest said the hotel had not reached the "upper status" that other Coast hotels have reached. Another guest compared some room appointments to those of a Super 8 hotel, a chain considered less prestigious than Coast hotels.
Occasionally guests complained about Internet woes with one guest, for example, saying the wireless was not working.
