The Walking Eagle Inn and Lodge is situated among restaurants and local businesses on Highway 11, about a 3-minute drive to the town centre. With limited on-site recreational amenities, this property is well-suited for guests looking to explore area attractions and in need of convenient highway access.

This hotel has two buildings, an inn (also called the main building) which is an older building and a lodge which was built in the 1990's. Both smoking and non-smoking accommodations are available.

All rooms include free Wi-Fi, a 25" or 27" TV with cable channels, free local calls, a coffeemaker, a mini-fridge and individual climate control. Lodge rooms come equipped with microwaves, but the inn rooms supply microwaves upon request on a first-come-first-served basis. The hotel offers rooms with 2 double beds, a queen bed with a sofabed, a queen suite or a king suite. Suites may come with a separate living room, dining area, a kitchenette and a jetted tub. 

The on-site Griller's Restaurant and Lounge serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hotel guests are served a free hot breakfast at the restaurant which includes two eggs, hash browns, toast, coffee and a choice of bacon, ham or sausage.

Both buildings have 2 floors and no elevator. Free parking is available on site. Other hotel amenities include coin-operated laundry machines, an ATM, a steam room, a hot tub, meeting space and a liquor store. Fitness facilities are available to guests of this hotel across the street. Pets are welcomed for an additional fee of $15 per night, per pet.

The downtown area, which features the Bard Twin Theatre, the hospital, shopping and the Rocky Mountain House Museum is 10 minutes away by car. The Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site is a 14-minute drive away, while Crimson Lake Provincial Park (snowmobile trails, skating, fishing and boating) is about 20 minutes away by car.
