The Good
Many of the reviews used for this analysis were positive, and guests were mostly impressed with this hotel's staff.

Guests received good customer service from staff at this hotel. There was a sense from a number of guests that staff went the extra mile and tried very hard to please guests, particularly when they expressed dissatisfaction. Front desk staff were accommodating in switching rooms around for guests who were unhappy with their original rooms, and were successful in pleasing them.

A number of guests liked the location of this hotel, saying that it was convenient for shopping (Bower Place Mall, a 1-minute walk away), restaurants and Westerner Park (4-minute drive).

There were some additional comments about comfy beds and from guests who appreciated the quality and selection of the food offered at the complimentary hot buffet breakfast.

The Bad
While a number of reviews for this hotel used for this analysis were positive, guests of this hotel did have some strong opinions about the hotel's appearance and about the quality of the cleaning in the rooms.

This hotel was showing its age and was in need of some maintenance and upgrades, according to guests. Some said the exterior of the hotel was cracked and crumbling. The bathrooms were in particular need of attention, with some guests complaining about stains on the ceilings and peeling walls. Furniture and carpets were singled out as well.

Some guests commented on the overall need for maintenance to some items in the hotel, including doors off hinges.

Attention to cleaning was an issue for a number of guests, who mentioned dirty carpets, dirty bathrooms and dirty air conditioning units in particular. One guest described her room as being "wiped over", but that dirt still remained.

A few guests felt that the rooms were small and awkward to move around in. A couple of guests thought that the bathrooms were particularly tiny. One guest said that there was only enough room for one person at a time in the bathroom.

There were some additional complaints from guests about weak air conditioning units and difficulty in regulating the temperature in the rooms.

"Room for improvement"

"Excellent customer service. Bathroom difficult to navigate as had to close the door everytime went in there, even if just to use the sink. Shower head leaked, hit the too close tiled ceiling - now stained and soaked. Found hairs in shower stall. Room walls very thin. Was grateful that girl at front desk moved me to a room with no one on either side. She was very understanding."

"Had a non smoking room, but assume there was smoking rooms close or in the same hall as you could smell smoke especially in the bathroom - possible venting system issue, or coming in under large space under and on side of door. Clock radio didn't work and I let the staff know about it the first night and would have been nice to have it replaced for our second and third night. The cracks in the bottom and side of door also allowed alot of light through - we placed a towel on the bottom."

"It's expensive for the room etc. We stayed for convenience but in this price range there are better deals. My complaint is also with you as I asked for a receipt of some kind and the lady was unable to provide one. I later found out that this room would have been far cheaper had I booked directly. Also don't like the usage of US funds in Canada for Canadians"

"Staff at front desk where rude , I had pre booked my room, when I asked to cancel my room because of staff attitude I was told that the booking agent had already charged my visa and I would have had to pay for the room whether I stayed there or not. You can be sure that this gup will never stay at your hotel adain. Ross Small"
