Overview
Located across the street from Bower Place Shopping Centre and about a 4-minute drive from Hwy 2 (Queen Elizabeth II Hwy, route between Calgary and Edmonton), this hotel is popular with guests who seek accommodation and amenities near the highway, often stopping off for the night as part of a longer journey. Also, given the hotel's proximity to Red Deer College (6-minute drive, 18-minute walk), this hotel is popular with students and their visiting families.

All of the 91 rooms at this hotel have free Wi-Fi, a mini-fridge, a microwave, a flat-screen TV, a hair dryer, a coffeemaker and an iron and ironing board. Guests can choose between standard rooms (king or queen beds) or more spacious suites (some with a jacuzzi or with bunk beds to accommodate families). Pets are not permitted at this hotel.

The Good
The bulk of reviews used for this analysis were positive, and guests were enthusiastic about the size and cleanliness of the rooms, and about the excellent service they received from staff.

Rooms were clean and comfortable, according to a number of guests. Several guests felt that their rooms were large and more than able to accommodate their needs (a few guests were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness).

Staff here were friendly and courteous, according to reviews. Guests commented on the warm smiles and personalized service that they received. Front desk staff were mentioned as being particularly helpful. There was a sense that staff try to exceed guest expectation.


A number of guests felt that they received good value for the price they paid. A few guests commented on the reasonable price and were satisfied with what they got in return.

The free breakfast was good, according to a number of guests, who commented favourably on the quality and selection of food offered. A number of guests also felt that it was convenient, as well as a value-add, to have breakfast available for free on site.

There were some peripheral comments from guests who appreciated some of the small touches, like nice toiletries and freshly baked cookies at the front desk.

The Bad
Most of the reviews used for this analysis were positive, but guests did make a few complaints, although they did not seem to be reflective of overall guest experience.

While a number of people enjoyed the pool area, a few felt that the pool was too small. A couple of guests thought that the bathrooms were small. One guest said that the decking around the pool was beginning to fall apart.

A couple of guests were disturbed by noisy air conditioning units. Guests in rooms near the pool found that noisy swimmers were disturbing.

There were some comments from guests about lighting not working in the rooms and about dirty light switches.
