OverviewThe Ramada Inn Lloydminster is located on the north side of 44th street (Yellowhead Highway) and west of 56th avenue in Lloydminster, Alberta. The small city, which is mostly in Alberta but partly in Saskatchewan, is a common stopover point for motorists using Highway 16 with Edmonton 253km to the west of the hotel and Saskatoon 276km to the east.
Facilities at the hotel include a fitness centre, free parking (verified with front desk), meeting rooms, a business centre, and elevator access to all levels. The hotel does not have an on-site restaurant or pub however there are many dining options in the immediate vicinity.
Common room amenities include air conditioning, free wireless Internet, refrigerators, desks, hair dryers, and coffee makers. Some rooms also include microwaves and suites at the hotel offer kitchenettes. Bedding at the property is either one queen bed, two queen beds, or one king.
The three-story hotel has 61 rooms many of which are non-smoking. Our staff verified with a Front Desk Agent that the hotel does have some smoking rooms on the ground floor, a fact that contradicts some web sources who describe the hotel as non-smoking only.
Check in time at this hotel is at 4pm while check out time is at 11am.
The hotel is also about six blocks to the west of the Alberta/Saskatchewan border and Lloydminster Mall is situated just 700m to the east of the property (all distances - Google Maps).
The GoodGuests that stayed at this hotel were generally very satisfied and the property received positive reviews. The hotel's breakfast, staff, and location all appeared to be significant strong points.
Many guests mentioned that the breakfast at the hotel was free and multiple guests said that the food quality or selection was "good." One guest called the breakfast "delicious" and mentioned that the items "were fresh."
The staff at the hotel were typically described as "helpful" and/or "friendly." Many other guests also described the staff as courteous, excellent, polite, or even great.
Some guests indicated that they liked the hotel's location which was on the main road through town. One guest indicated that the hotel was easy to find while another mentioned that there were several restaurants nearby.
Guests who commented on the hotel's cleanliness standards typically said that either their rooms or the hotel in general were clean. One guest was very assertive in making this point and said the "hotel was the cleanest (he/she) (had) ever stayed in." Many guests also felt that their rooms were comfortable and multiple guests mentioned their beds.
Lastly, the hotel was tipped as business friendly for some guests who appreciated the free Internet and the in-room desks.
The Bad
Complaints about this hotel were not that common however there were a couple areas that multiple guests mentioned as possible weak points.
For example, occasionally a guest mentioned that there were no restaurants or bars on site although some guests indicated that there were many in the area.
Additionally some guests mentioned that they noticed the smell of cigarette smoke at the hotel. One guest claimed that the smell was on the ground floor and that claim corroborated with what a Front Desk Agent told us about the hotel's smoking rooms (see overview).
Other complaints were somewhat sporadic however noise was a minor concern at the hotel due to the property's location on Highway 16.
TripAdvisor.com ranked the hotel 1st of 10 properties in Lloydminster and the site had 20 reviews.
CanadianHotelGuide.com guest ratings averaged to 7.7 points out of 10 and the site had 8 reviews.
