The Good
This property was well loved for its beautiful scenery, walking, biking and hiking trails and for the wonderful staff who made it all happen.

Guests were usually pleased with the rooms which (although due for a 2016 renovation) were cozy and comfortable, some with fireplaces, balconies and separate bedrooms and all with a mini-fridge for chilling drinks. (Club Floor rooms were already renovated.)

Some said this was the perfect place for family and pets as there was so much to do on site to stay entertained and the staff were so very friendly. Guests used words like wonderful, fantastic and super helpful to describe the staff.

Many enjoyed meals with attentive service on site. One guest put it well, "The food in all the restaurants was excellent and the dishes creatively and flavorfully prepared." And another provided a little more information, "The meals were tasty and accommodated our gluten-free needs seamlessly." Yet another said, "We were impressed with how accommodating the staff were, particularly the restaurant staff who easily changed up a meal to accommodate our children's tastes."
The Bad
Some guests were not as thrilled about the hotel and these usually complained about the dated condition of the hotel, the room rates and the on-site dining.

Several guests complained about a lack of air conditioning in their (not renovated) rooms. Although it usually doesn't get that hot in the mountains, some guests said their rooms were too warm in the summer months. (Renovated rooms within the Signature Club section which includes ModeClub, lofts and suites are currently air conditioned and the hotel says they are continuing to renovate.)

Guests who were displeased with the dated condition of their rooms and the main areas, felt that the hotel charged luxury prices but didn't deliver the expected ambiance and luxury for a romantic getaway.

Several complained about high prices for the breakfast and other dining on site. Although many loved the food, some felt it was too fancy and not plain enough, and a few guests felt the vegetarian choices lacked imagination. As well some guests, who stayed in the Club Rooms and were given the free continental breakfast, felt it was too ordinary for this type of hotel.

Guests who were particularly upset about the prices of meals or who were otherwise displeased about it, were disconcerted that their only other option was to drive the 45 minutes to Canmore.
