Overview
The Whistler’s Inn is located on the south side of Miette Avenue and west of Connaught Drive in Jasper, Alberta.

Facilities at the non-pet friendly hotel include an elevator, two hot tubs, two restaurants (breakfast extra), a sauna, guest laundry, free parking, and a steam room. The four-story hotel is non-smoking and it has 64 guest rooms that include nine suites.

Room amenities include air conditioning, coffee makers, hair dryers, televisions with cable, in-room safes, irons, ironing boards, and free local calls. There is also free Internet at the hotel however the wireless signal is meant to serve the common areas and it is not guaranteed to reach guest rooms with adequate strength.

The hotel is very central to Jasper with the VIA Rail station (where the Rocky Mountaineer stops as well) directly across the street from the hotel’s Connaught Drive entrance. Additionally there are numerous shops, restaurants, and clubs within 500m of the hotel (Google Maps).

Check in time at the property is at 3pm while check out time is at 11am.

Verified with a Front Desk Agent: no free breakfast, in-room wireless signal is not guaranteed, check in and check out times.

The Good
Guests that enjoyed their stays at the Whistler’s Inn often said that they liked the hotel’s location.

Several guests mentioned that the hotel was across the street from the rail station in Jasper, a common arrival and departure point for visitors to the tourist town. Many guests also mentioned that the hotel was central to Jasper, with numerous shops and restaurants nearby.

Besides the location, several guests also liked the hotel’s roof top hot tubs and some guests said that those amenities were “great” or even “fantastic.” Multiple guests enjoyed the views of the surrounding mountains from the hot tubs.

The staff at the hotel received their fair share of compliments for being friendly and helpful.
Lastly, guests who commented on the cleanliness standards of the hotel were generally happy.

The Bad
Guests that were critical of the hotel focused on three different areas: noise at the property, parking woes, and the perceived age of the property.

According to several guests the hotel lacked peacefulness and quietness. Guests who complained about noise at the property usually mentioned the hotel’s close proximity to the train station. One guest said that he/she noticed “the arrival and departure of trains” and another said that there were “trains going through at all hours of the night.”

Some guests also mentioned that there was some night-time action in the area and that led to a couple problems. First there was some noise from local bars until the wee hours of the morning and secondly sometimes other guests at the hotel were in a party-mood and they caused noise in the halls.

Many guests felt as though there was not enough parking at the hotel. One guest stated that there were “only about eight parking spots available for approximately 30 guest rooms.” Other guests used the word “limited” when they described the hotel’s parking.

Guests occasionally indicated that they thought that the property was somewhat old. One guest, for example, said the hotel needed to be “updated,” another guest said the hotel was “dated,” and multiple guests felt as though an upgrade was in order.

The Internet connection was not brought up too often however multiple guests had troubles with it. One guest, for example, called it “patchy.”

Expedia.ca guest ratings averaged to 3.6 points out of 5 and 80% of guests recommended the property.

TripAdvisor.com ranked the hotel 11th of 17 properties in Jasper and the site had 116 reviews.

Booking.com guest ratings averaged to 8.0 points out of 10 and the site had 156 reviews.
