The Good
The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with much praise going to the hotel's rates, staff and location. Guest opinions of the hotel's rooms were mixed, although most reviewers spoke positively about the rooms.

The hotel's rates were enjoyed by many lodgers, who described them as fair, exceptional, reasonable and excellent. One patron, who booked a room with a full kitchen, felt that the price for the kitchen was well worth it, as he or she was able to avoid eating pricey meals at restaurants in town.

Numerous guests were pleased with the level of customer service they received during their stay. They characterized the staff as helpful, friendly, professional and accommodating.

Several reviewers complimented their accommodations at the hotel. They described their rooms as clean, spacious, modern, quiet and well equipped, with comfortable beds and linens. A few guests had complaints about their lodgings, however (see below).

The hotel's location was convenient for several travellers, who described it as easy to find and close to the VIA Rail Station, restaurants, shopping, downtown Jasper and highway access. A few lodgers had complaints about the hotel's location, however (see below).
The Bad
While the majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were a few complaints about the rooms and location.

As noted above, the majority of reviewers were happy with their rooms. Several described them as clean, although a few did note some minor housekeeping issues (such as sheets not being changed). In addition, a few reviewers felt the rooms they booked were too small for their needs. Finally, there were reports of train noise.

While the majority of guests enjoyed the hotel's proximity to downtown, a few guests noted that the hotel was on the outskirts of town and most suitable for those with a vehicle. For example, it takes about 2 minutes to drive into the heart of downtown, but about 15 to 25 minutes to reach the same area on foot.

"My room was quite pretty and nestled in the trees as we looked out the window. Construction was behind us but no one was working on this Thanksgiving day. The bathroom was larger than their competitor next door as our friends had booked there. Other than the bathtub containing long black hair and the bathroom floor was not as clean as it should have been, we had a great stay! The hot tub was great but two sides of it wasn't working right. We did not use the pool. We will stay there again but I'll check the the room first. There was no compensation for the shabby housekeeping. It's good customer service to compensate. The staff was excellent and very polite."

"The service in the restaurants at this hotel and also at the others two hotels in the chains can be very poor indeed."

"Extra details asked for at the last minute cherfully provided (extra cot, towels, etc.) Pool was nice, and my request for a room away from the traffic worked out fine. Excellent beakfast, too."

"Jasper is a true gem and I plan to come back and stay for a while. Why would anyone want to go to Europe when you can find a place like Jasper! The people are wonderful and open up their heart to you like the mountains do that surround the wonderful city!"

"I'd recommend that future guests request a room away from the main road as there is some truck noise overnight and noise from the continuously running freight trains the other side of the road. Light sleepers beware!"

"Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains and the lodge's well-maintained grounds. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette, and the kitchenette was an excellent feature."

"The office staff was more than helpul. We had no car. The office people were more than helpful and very timely in assisting with van service. The drivers were also pleasant and courteous."

9 out of 10 | Rita stayed November 23, 2003

"The room was very comfortable, however, I dropped something on the floor that rolled under the bed and I have to say that the floors need attention under the beds. Also the headboards and lamps between the beds needed dusting. Otherwise the room was clean and I would stay there again."
