The Good
Of the reviews used for this analysis, negative experiences seemed to outnumber positive experiences. However, many guests complimented the location of this hotel. Reviewers found many downtown dining and shopping venues within walking distance, while several guests found the nearby LRT (public transit) station convenient for accessing Rexall Place and Commonwealth Stadium.

A few guests described their rooms as clean, spacious, and well-appointed. While a couple of other reviewers specifically mentioned that their beds were comfortable.

A few reviewers commented on the pleasant views of the city from this hotel. A couple of guests complimented the views from the penthouse pool and hot tub area, while a couple of other reviewers complimented the views from their guest rooms.

Some guests found the recreational facilities (pool, hot tub, sauna) to be value added features, while a couple of reviewers found the room rates to be reasonable.

The Bad
The most common complaint, among the reviews used for this analysis, was that the on-site parking fees ($23 - $26 per day) were expensive and that the parking facility was difficult to locate.

Other complaints about the parking facility included inadequate signage directing guests from the parking facility to the hotel lobby. A few other reviewers mentioned that there was limited space in the parking facility and that the hotel's alternative parking area was across the street, which was found to be inconvenient by some guests. One guest, who drove a large truck, was unable to access the parkade because of the height restrictions and he received a $50 ticket for parking his truck on the street.

Several guests thought that the hotel was in need of upgrades. Reviewers described dated and worn furnishings, older televisions, old alarm clocks that were difficult to set, running toilets, old hair dryers, and shabby bathroom fixtures. A few other guests described unpleasant odours in their rooms.

Several guests thought that the guest rooms could used enhanced soundproofing. A couple of reviewers were disturbed by noise from neighbouring rooms, while a couple of other guests were disrupted in their rooms by street traffic. One guest who complained about street noise mentioned that his room was on the 14th floor.

Another common concern for some guests was that the area around the hotel appeared unsafe. A few guests noticed a homeless shelter next door to the hotel, while a couple of other reviewers described seeing suspicious people loitering around the parking facility and hotel entrance.

The front desk agents were described, by some guests, as inefficient and unhelpful. One reviewer thought that the front desk was understaffed, while another guest said that he was assigned a room that was already occupied by someone else. A few guests mentioned that the front desk agents seemed unfriendly and did not smile.

"Nice hotel, Excelent location"
"I really like staying at the Sutton Place whenever I'm down in Edmonton. It's clean, comfortable and the customer service is very good. The location is just amazing. Just a few steps away from city centre mall, Holt Renfrew and many other good stores. And they got a bar/restaurant in the hotel recently which is very nice too."

"Misinformation but a fine palce"
"There seemed to be a lot of misinformation about the amenities at the hotel. The business center does not provide free service like I was told when I phoned ahead of time, instead there is free wireless in the rooms and free connection in the business center but nothing for people without laptops. I was also disappointed when there was no complimentary continental breakfast as I had been told there was on the web. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay. Very centrally located in the downtown area. Very nice and appealing."

Don from Georgetown, ON CA rated Sutton Place Hotel Edmonton 7 out of 10 on January 12, 2005 Verified Guest Hotel Review

"You need high speed internet access. You were the only hotel on our multistop trip which did not have it in the room. And the highest priced! A business hotel needs to have this service as a standard."
