Four Points Edmonton South is close to Hwys 100 and 14 and has easy access to the Yellowhead Hwy. It is situated in an industrial/commercial area, about a 16-minute drive from downtown Edmonton, a 10-minute drive from the dining and entertainment district on Whyte Avenue, and 18 minutes from the West Edmonton Mall. This hotel is a good option for guests wanting a budget hotel with good highway access out of the more expensive downtown core.

The Four Points is smoke-free and has 139 air-conditioned rooms and suites which all include free Wi-Fi, free bottled water, free local calls, a flat screen TV with pay-per-view movies, a coffeemaker, a mini-fridge, a microwave, an iron and ironing board, a desk with ergonomic chair and black out curtains. Some units may also include a separate bedroom and living room, french doors, a sofabed, a fireplace and a jacuzzi. 

This hotel is pet-friendly and charges $25 per pet, per night with a maximum of 2 pets allowed per room. Free on-site parking is also available.

Duke of Argyll Pub offers a sports bar atmosphere with an 80" screen and various TVs, along with live entertainment on weekends. It serves lunch, dinner, and a weekend Steak and Eggs Special. The East 75 Restaurant & Lounge serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Daily lunch buffets and a Sunday breakfast buffet is also offered, along with room service. The hotel provides a free reception on Wednesdays with best brews craft beers and a BBQ from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Nearby restaurants include Wendy's and Boston Pizza.

Other amenities include an indoor pool, sauna, a 24-hour fitness centre, 24-hour business centre, meeting and banquet space, gift shop, and dry cleaning service.

Downtown Edmonton, which features the Edmonton City Centre mall, Art Gallery of Alberta, Shaw Conference Centre (exhibitions and concerts), and the entertainment district of Jasper Avenue, is about a 16-minute drive from this property. Rexall Place (home of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers) and Commonwealth Stadium (home of the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos) are both approximately 12 minutes away by car. The Edmonton International Airport (YEG) is a 30-minute drive south of this hotel (driving time estimates: Google Maps).

The Good
This hotel seemed to satisfy a large number of its guests, judging from recent reviews read for this report.

Some guests enjoyed updated rooms. They described the furniture, lighting, beds and bathroom fixtures as all being new. Many guests said the rooms were very clean and large. A number of reviewers also mentioned that their beds were comfortable (although there were a couple of guests who reported hard or otherwise uncomfortable beds).

The food quality and the live entertainment at the restaurant on site was well liked by hotel guests. Room service also received a couple compliments for prompt service, good food and good value.

Guests who liked the location pointed out that it had great highway access and was only a 15-minute drive to downtown or downtown could be avoided altogether with great access to many routes. Some like accessing businesses or shopping nearby.

A couple of guests were pleased to have lots of free parking available. Others mentioned the value of the flat screen TVs, mini-fridge and microwaves, nice coffee and free bottled water in the rooms.
The Bad
Guests were not always fully happy with their stays at the hotel and although scores were better than average, it seems that the hotel often left their guests dissatisfied.

It seems that the property is older, some calling it tired and dated and the staff, although considered friendly by many of the guests, were considered very unfriendly and dismissive by others.

Guests who were dissatisfied, pointed to several weak areas. Small bathrooms and poor water pressure in the shower were brought up by more than one guest. A few complained of poor Wi-Fi signal and connectivity.

Noise disturbance was a problem for some guests. A couple said the walls were paper thin and pointed to hearing footsteps in the hallways and a bus running outside in the parking lot. Another guest could hear the elevator all night long and the slamming of doors by the staff. Others said the HVAC units made noise and disturbed sleep

Some guests were quite disturbed to have to smell smoke at this non-smoking hotel. The lobby area smelled of smoke from smokers allowed to smoke just outside the doors and smoke drifted into one guest's room through the AC unit.

Although several liked the location, some thought it was a  bad location--far from anything and not much in walking distance.

Guests were also divided over the value of the rooms for the price.
