Duke of Argyll Pub serves lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. The pub is open from 11:00am - 12:00am, Sunday - Monday, 11:00am - 1:00am Tuesday - Thursday, and 11:00am - 2:00am Friday - Saturday. The Garden Terrace Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and buffets, daily, from 6:30am - 10:00pm. Room service is also available from 6:30am - 10:00pm.
Other amenities include a fitness centre, indoor pool, sauna, meeting and banquet space, gift shop, and dry cleaning service (for an additional fee).
Downtown Edmonton, which features the Edmonton City Centre (mall), Art Gallery of Alberta, Shaw Conference Centre (exhibitions and concerts), and the entertainment district of Jasper Avenue, is about a 15 minute drive from this property. Rexall Place (home of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers) and Commonwealth Stadium (home of the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos) are both approximately 12 minutes away, by car. The Edmonton International Airport (YEG) is a 30 minute drive south of this hotel (driving time estimates: Google Maps).
The GoodThe most complimented aspect of this hotel, among reviews used for this analysis, was the customer service.
The front desk agents were frequently described as friendly, helpful, and accommodating. One guest said that the staff "made every effort to ensure I enjoyed my stay", while a couple of other reviewers found the check-in process efficient.
The rooms were described as clean and spacious by several guests. Several reviewers also mentioned that their beds were comfortable.
The food quality at the Argyll Pub was complimented by a few guests. Some reviewers also described the wait staff as attentive. Room service also received a couple compliments for prompt service.
A few guests thought that the room rates were reasonable and those guests stated that they would likely stay at this hotel again in the future.
The Bad
Many guests thought that their rooms could use upgrades. Reviewers described tired decor, outdated furnishings, and stained bathroom fixtures.
However, according to guests who stayed at this hotel after April 2012, the property is undergoing renovations that will continue through the summer of 2012. Some reviewers who stayed at this hotel, while renovations were on-going, felt inconvenienced and some guests were disturbed in their rooms by construction noise.
Several reviewers expressed concerns about the pool area. Some guests found the pool too small, while other reviewers found the pool to be uncomfortably cold. One guest also thought that the pool appeared to be unclean. A couple of reviewers, who booked a room at this hotel specifically for the pool, were disappointed to learn that the pool had been temporarily closed during their stay.
A few guests also found the location of this hotel too far away from the downtown area of Edmonton and inconvenient for accessing area attractions.
Other isolated complaints included: uncomfortable in-room temperature, in-room telephone not in working order, small fitness centre, unpleasant odour in the sauna, and the neighbourhood immediately surrounding the hotel appeared unsafe.
