Located along Highway 2 and about an 18-minute drive from Edmonton's city centre, Econo Lodge Edmonton is geared towards road travellers who require a basic hotel with a free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, a microwave and mini-fridge in the guest rooms and easy highway access.

Each of the hotel's air-conditioned guest rooms comes equipped with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, a coffeemaker, a microwave, a mini-fridge, an iron and ironing board and a hair dryer. Smoking and non-smoking rooms are available upon request, however, the hotel does not offer wheelchair-accessible rooms, ground-floor rooms, or an elevator.

On-site amenities include guest laundry, free parking (including cold weather hook-ups) and a free continental breakfast served in the lobby between 7 am and 10 am daily. Reception is open 24 hours a day. Pets are not permitted.

Big-box shopping and several dining establishments are available within an easy walk of this property. For example, Walmart is about 3 minutes away on foot (although you would have to cross Highway 2), and Montana's Cookhouse and Saloon is within a 5-minute walk (also across the highway), or 2-minute drive.

The University of Alberta is about a 13-minute drive away, while West Edmonton Mall can be found 15 minutes away by car. Shaw Conference Centre is roughly a 16-minute drive from the hotel, and Edmonton International Airport (YEG) is a 17-minute drive away. (All travel time estimates: Google Maps)

"I didn't think smoking rooms were allowed anymore - but we got one - what a horrible stench. We asked to be moved but the response was they were full up (funny there were only 6 cars in the parking lot) I swear the sheets and pillow cases weren't changed from the last poor souls that stayed in that room. Everything was old old old and dirty. The toilet didn't flush until we fiddled around in the tank ( management said it worked perfectly). We couldn't plug in our hair dryer cause the receptacle didn't work - had to use the recept behind the entertainment center. Wish we had known there were railway tracks behind the dump (from midnight on yup trains going by) We were given one card key and were told not to forget or lose it cause there would be no one in the office between Midnight and 6 AM.There was old food in the fridge. The air conditioner was about 30 yrs old and probably never cleaned, talk about DIRTY . The continental breakfast was a joke - corn flakes and cheerios in some sort of despenser. Not fit for even the homeless!!!!"

"The hotel was undergoing renovations so the place was dirty, I think the steps were not safe - there were no handrails. The room was hot and the mickey mouse air conditioner did not cool the place. The thermostat did not appear to be working.Very few electrical outlets with a lot of cords plugged into a powerbar. The bedside lamps were not plugged in- the outlet could not be reached. We had to pay at Check-In and not Check-out- probably they were afraid we would check out after one night. I would not stay there again."

"We stayed for 4 nights. The staffs were nice. Parking is easy and train or other modes of transportation such as bus and cab is accessible. They have microwave, coffee maker, iron and ironing board plus TV amd free wifi. It also includes continental breakfast for its price"

"Great experience at Econo lodge in Edmonton"

"It was clean and friendly services. The breakfast was very good and food was always replaced as it runs out. It is more of a motel style design but a hotel standard of rooms and beds. I loved it and so were the kids and wife. Great for the price. The biggest seller is its location for a family. Close to everything."

"The only thing I can say is that it would be nice if there was an elevator, as I had a lady with me who walks with a cane and finds stairs hard to manueuver."

"Everything was fine except there was a party next door to me that went on till 4:00am."

"The room was exactly as pictured on their web site. The front desk was very friendly and polite. We did not hear any noise from other guests despite a No Vacancy posting. There's a large shopping center directly across the street and the West Edmonton Mall was only a 10 minute drive away. Is a pet-friendly hotel. At $75/night, was a great deal."

"If you did not want to drive it was a pain (2 buses) to get to downtown. The resteraunt attached to the hotel was closed so eating and drinking close to the hotel was not a good option"

"We used the laptop in the truck to access the internet, we made reservations on line. What was interesting was the parking lot when we arrived was mostly empty, and the general office lights were turned off and the SIGN in the window was NO VACANCY. After a few minutes of standing and ringing the door bell an unkept man strolled to the door. We were pleased to find out that our online requests were done, so I will give the hotel and the night person the benifit of the doubt. But I must say it was interesting. Would we stay at this place again, well... you get what you pay for and we did not pay much. When the lights were turned out it was great."
